Aaron Gunn: If the federal government truly believes in the private property rights of Canadians, they should probably stop opening every public meeting by proclaiming the gathering on the “unceded territory” of this or that First Nation.
Doing so reinforces the radical and dangerous legal concept that most Canadians live on “stolen land”. This is Canada. One country. For all Canadians. 𝗠𝗣 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀

Chiefs from four First Nations communities are urging the public to please approach Aaron Gunn with no caution whatsoever. He is completely harmless, though momentarily unsettled by the alarming possibility that someone might acknowledge the land before a meeting.
Yesterday on social media, the MP appeared to crash out and demand to speak to the manager of land acknowledgements, a position that observers confirm does not exist.
Chiefs whose territories make up the riding had two words for the MP - Chillax, Bud.
Land acknowledgements have never seized private property, cancelled a mortgage, repossessed a pickup truck, or altered a single title deed anywhere in Canada.
They are simply people recognizing the history of the place where they are standing.
No one is going anywhere. Canada will survive the brief moment of honesty.
Until then, Chiefs across the region continue to reassure the public that land acknowledgements have not, to date, resulted in any land back.

Chief Nicole Rempel, K'ómoks Nation
Chief Kevin Peacey, Klahoose Nation

Conservative MP for Powell River–North Island, Aaron Gunn, is, uh, well he’s being trolled a bit for his condemnation of land acknowledgements yesterday. Message from K’omoks, Klahoose, Homalco & Tla’amin Nations: “Chillax, bud.” #bcpoli

Opinion: In the MAID debates, the patient’s voice must take precedence As Canada’s medical assistance in dying regime is expanded, those who want it shouldn’t be silenced

In the MAID debates, the patient’s voice must take precedence. As medical assistance in dying regime is expanded, those who want to end their suffering should not be silenced by anti-choice activists, by @picardonhealth.bsky.social www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti... via @theglobeandmail.com

i would be a good politician, except i hate people and new things and a lack of career certainty and hugging people and listening to orders and saying things i don't really believe but are forced to support because of party solidarity

so maybe i wouldn't be a good politician

Previous generations of rich people knew that it was important for them to shut the fuck up and build libraries and parks and hospitals since that was the only way we would tolerate them in society. This generation of rich people have forgotten why this was necessary. We should remind them.

Prior abortion or miscarriage not linked to increased risk of pre- or postmenopausal breast cancer A prior abortion or miscarriage was not linked with an increased risk of developing pre- or postmenopausal breast cancer in a study published in Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica.

A new study has shown that miscarriage or induced abortion is NOT a potential risk factor for breast cancer, contrary to continued anti-choice propaganda. Even several abortions or miscarriages does not increase risk. The study used high-quality Finnish registry data.

What Happens When Midwives Lead Abortion Care: Lessons from Sweden | International Confederation of Midwives In Sweden, abortion is recognised as essential healthcare—built on decades of research and early innovation. More recently, reforms have enabled midwives to play a central role, making care safer, tim...

Sweden’s experience with midwives providing abortion care offers lessons for other countries. Swedism midwives have long led care for healthy women during pregnancy and birth, with doctors supporting when complications arise. Applying the same model to abortion care is both logical and effective.

Yep. All those dystopian/ sci-fi books are becoming instructive. I reread Parable of the Shower/Talents last year and it was eerie.
