Year 5 Brunswick Park Primary School

5A had an exciting afternoon at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening today looking at minibeasts and pond dipping! This was to inspire their final pieces in Art and an engaging start for the next Science topic!

This half term in RE, we have been looking at how Christmas is celebrated around the world. We made Christingles in our groups to demonstrate our learning about how some Christians celebrate Advent

Year 5 joined in a live lesson this morning as part of #NumberConfidenceWeek from @nationalnumeracy.bsky.social and Barclays. There were lots of real-life number problems to work through with our partners! @brunswickparkps.bsky.social

Year 5 have been doing some amazing painting to celebrate @blackhistorymonth.org.uk inspired by the poems of Joseph Coelho.

In Science, Year 5 were exploring gravity and the difference between mass and weight. They used newton meters to measure the mass and weight of different items around the classroom.

Year 5 had a lovely morning reading in the library today. We always enjoy an opportunity to SEAR!

Year 5 have been continuing to look at portraits in art and this week they have been experimenting with caricatures. They have had lots of fun exaggerating different facial features on their sketches. @brunswickparkps.bsky.social

Our study of forces has continued in Science this week, we made parachutes to test the impact of size on air resistance! We think they were pretty successful. @brunswickparkps.bsky.social

What an exciting day Year 5 had yesterday! We had a trip to the Courtauld Gallery to look at famous portraits and practise our sketching skills in front of the artwork.

In Science this week we have been learning about air resistance. We experimented running with and without parachutes to feel this force in action!

In our RE lesson this week we explored the story of Adam and Eve and what lessons it teaches us. We used drama to understand the importance of taking responsibility for our actions.

The Wonderful Writers in year 5 are published authors once more. 👏The year group entered the writing competition to produce poetry on the theme of Winter. We were successfully chosen. Well done year 5. @brunswickparkps.bsky.social

Year 5 Thoroughly enjoyed their Marble Treat this afternoon. PJs, iced chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. All enjoyed whilst watching a movie. We just love Marble Treats! @brunswickparkps.bsky.social
