It adds additional steps and delays that are unnecessary and frankly challenging

Instead of purchasing them in advance, they purchase them as students order them. So students can’t walk in the first week of classes and walk out with their book- they order them from the bookstore, wait for them to be shipped to the bookstore, and then pick them up

faculty books aren't for sale at ours, but they do sell books by basketball coaches and the mascot

I would love that! Unfortunately we’re a rural university and the university bookstore has always fulfilled the local needs

Can you even call it a bookstore if it just sells t-shirts and stuffies?

This is a real problem at my institution, which is on a 10-week quarter system and has a high % of Pell grant recipients who can’t purchase books until the term starts

They also don’t carry course books anymore- they will order them on behalf of students, who then have to wait a week or two for them to come in.

My university outsourced our bookstore to some new company, and they stopped carrying books written by faculty. A faculty member offered to donate copies of their book for the bookstore to sell, and they said it was against corporate policy

This is my issue with Oregon drivers too - people think they're being kind so will do things like slam on their breaks on a major road to let someone merge (without thinking about the drivers behind them). It's unpredictable and dangerous
