J’étouffe
Né en Haïti, dont il a été ministre de la Culture, le réalisateur de I Am Not Your Negro et du Jeune Karl Marx entretient une relation de longue date avec
(as I prep for the last day of French colonialism class).
If you've never read Raoul Peck's J'étouffe, written amidst the BLM protests in the US & France, it's 🔥.
I can't remember whether it was published in English but you can run translate off here & it's not bad: le1hebdo.fr/journal/jeto...

I figured out why #Tirailleurs didn't wow me, despite its earnestness.
1. French films are undefeated in whitewashing French racism. The opening shows forced conscription - but African tirailleurs enforce it with a few whites.
2. The first trauma at the European front is Black-on-Black violence/

At This College, the English Dept. Is Out. ‘Human Narratives’ Is In.
This proposed plan (not finalized?) at Montclair State to eliminate departments and disciplines is indeed “insane,” as English professor Adam Rzepka says in this truly wild article www.nytimes.com/2025/11/19/n...
