I saw people dunking on ICE for posting that they found one single supporter in Portland, but she is also missing an arm and apparently standing in front of the letters AI

They Live is a fantastic film but every time I introduce it to a Gen Z friend I'm reminded that the plot boils down to, "two hobos carry out a series of workplace mass shootings because they believe half the population are aliens wearing human skin"

One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced β€”and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it

A toast to love with paper cups: The best of Los Lobos 1984-1996 Dismissing them as a solid live band whose chops didn’t court me to evangelism, I’ve hesitated about posting a list. But in the last three weeks I’ve spent hours with their first …

Happy birthday to David Hidalgo, who with Los Lobos wrote and performed some of the best written and most furiously played of the '80s and '90s. Theirs is an inexhaustible catalog. humanizingthevacuum.wordpress.com/2020/10/31/t...

YouTube video by Peter McLennan Chris Knox: Songs Of You And Me - a documentary about Chris Knox (1995)

There's a biography of Chris Knox out this week - the author Craig Robertson contacted me a few years ago, as back in 1995 when I was at Ak Uni, I made a half hour documentary on Chris and he wanted to see it.
Anyway, I dug out the digital file and it's now online, enjoy! youtu.be/VQjvic02S8M?...

It worries me that the alleged drone sightings over the past week or so are causing European leaders to talk about war, and NATO is mobilizing. Troops are being called up. Almost every indication is that the drone sightings are the same bullshit we saw in New Jersey–there may be *nothing* there. 2/

The children yearn for the Hacienda When I teach my Intro to Media Studies course, I have a taster week for cultural studies centering on identity, representation, and music. I structure the class to have regular screenings of something...

It was time to show the most recent Hacienda documentary to my students. Every time I do, my students really wish they could go.
