“The truth always lies somewhere in the middle” has to be one of my least favorite phrases. Sometimes, one side is actually truthful and one side is actually malicious and lying!

Joe Rogan criticizes ICE tactics: 'Are we really going to be the Gestapo?' The influential podcaster, who endorsed Donald Trump in 2024, has been increasingly critical of the president’s mass deportation strategy.

I suppose it’s nominally good median brained Americans are waking up and I’m not sure how best to navigate how graceful to be towards people who want to walk back enabling this (an important conversation for the near future), but for now: yes you fucking rube. That’s exactly what we are

Leaving my house with the ‘don’t tread on me’ flag on it, putting on my mask and tactical gear, strapping on my weapon, and roaming the cities and towns that didn’t vote for my favorite candidate as an armed anonymous agent of the state kidnapping and shooting people who I don’t like the look of.

I was first unsettled, then increasingly furious at the New York Times' coverage of the death of Lia Smith. Here's a thread sharing some trily despicable choices made by @julietmacur.bsky.social in writing about this young woman's suicide.

yep. the guy is clearly standing to the side and continues to shoot as she drives past

It is intensely annoying to watch cable news speculate about what happened in this ICE shooting when there is ample video available. The woman was driving away, and an agent stepped out and shot her in the face. They don't need to pretend they don't know what happened.

There’s a video of ICE shooting a woman in the head.

What else do you need to see?

I think we are seeing that the government does believe it has the right to murder US citizens as it sees fit.

If they didn’t, it’d be pretty simple to sacrifice this one agent and go back to kidnapping.

Every second the murderer is not arrested is another second for feds to hide him in a place that would create a jurisdictional fight. He's on video killing a person. You have to arrest this guy an hour ago, but you might still have time now.

small-government conservatism is when a guy in a mask who won't show you his badge shoots you through the window of your car while you're driving away from him

In this in-depth interview Billie Jean Sweeney — a former editor at The New York Times — details how the paper shifted towards openly promoting anti-trans hatred, why this was directed from the very top, how some staff pushed back and the immense damage done by the NYT legitimizing bigotry.

Utah debate over transgender treatments for minors divides policymakers, experts over state 'systematic review' Do No Harm alleges Utah Department of Health and Human Services "systematic review" misleads on transgender outcomes.

Utah commissioned it's department of health to do a systematic review of gender affirming care for trans youth. In a 1000 page plus report found it was beneficial and the evidence was substantial. The lawmakers rejected it anyways.

Matt Walsh tweeted last year: "We've spent the last 25 years bringing "freedom" and "democracy" to countries around the globe while our own country has been systematically invaded and now our largest cities are run by foreigners and communists. If you want to know why I'm so avowedly non-interventionist, this is why."

Then he tweeted today: ""This is a war for oil!!!!!"

First of all, the "war" lasted like 90 minutes. Second, going to war to secure vital resources for your own people is totally legitimate. Why should we allow some third world communist shithole to control trillions of dollars worth of oil?" Laura Loomer tweeted last year: "I’m America First, I don’t support “Regime Change”. I went on @Bannons_WarRoom to talk about Chinese aggression in Venezuela and why we need to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign Islamic terrorist organization."

Then she tweeted yesterday: "Maduro has arrived at the DEA office in Manhattan. He was transported in an armored motorcade after being transported in a blindfold via helicopter & then by plane to New York after his compound in Caracas was raided by US Special Forces.

Proud to be an American today!

USA 🇺🇸" Catturd tweeted last year: "Name one U.S. inspired regime change that hasn’t ended in absolute disaster."

Then he tweeted yesterday: "Venezuela is now more free than New York City." Will Chamberlain tweeted last year: "The Republican Party is no longer the party of regime change and endless wars

If you want to be its standard-bearer that is a non-negotiable position"

Then he tweeted yesterday: "I can think of few better uses of my tax dollars than black-bagging the head of a foreign narco-trafficking organization that enriches itself by addicting and poisoning my fellow Americans"

amazing how the entire machine can pivot within 24 hours. no need to slowly upsell the argument; just issue new marching orders

again, every Democrat has not in fact done this by any stretch of the imagination, and there have been multiple statements - here's a few - www.thecentersquare.com/illinois/art... - that condemn this unequivocally but sure, if you just lie about it you can feel fine saying both sides are the same.

So it's appropriate to arrest a world leader if you consider them criminal? You can just go get them? Just asking questions here.

One eg: “While many news stories presented the!passport rules as a question of trans people feeling respected and validated, the real stakes are much greater. A document with the wrong gender could imperil their safety by outing them in hostile countries or by leading authorities to suspect fraud.”

“Went viral” is an old stock phrase in journalism that really does not capture the dynamic of how X dot Com has been tuned to give people like the one specific legislator here the power to intentionally cause this kind of outcome

literally fuck anyone who doesn’t see at this point that it’s an organized nationwide effort to make trans people unemployable.

every trans person they push out of public life is a win for them & a whole hell of a lot of cis people need to start stepping up and saying fuck off to freaks like this.

A screenshot of a news article header featuring circular portraits of three authors: Azeen Ghorayshi, Amy Harmon, and Reed Abelson. The dateline is Dec. 18, 2025. The opening paragraph reads: "The federal government on Thursday acted to put an end to gender-related care for minors across the nation, threatening to pull federal funding from any hospital that offered such treatment." A paragraph of text from a news article discussing medical interventions for minors. The text reads: "Questions over the evidence to support medical interventions for minors have been central to debate worldwide as demand for the treatments has increased. An influential report released in Britain last year found that the scientific evidence on the benefits and risks of the treatment was 'remarkably weak,' and concluded by recommending that puberty blockers be restricted to research trials only. Several European countries, and most recently New Zealand, have imposed restrictions."

One reason the NYT has burned its credibility with trans people is that they still cite the discredited Cass report in reporting on trans healthcare. Never the German, Utah, or other systematic reviews supporting care. They also never provide the political context behind restrictions in care.

cis people on the skyline are genuinely more distressed by karoline leavitt’s lip fillers than the fact that congress just said, “what we should do is put any doctor or pharmacist in prison who gives lifesaving medical care to this specific kind of child we find gross.”

"can't trans kids just wait?" "can't trans people take a backseat until we win?"

that's not how time works.

there's a thread in here with a story. it's my story. it's not a pleasant story. there are at least 3 more years of trump. think about how *your* body changed between 13 & 16, 15 & 18.🧵

a real tell in all of this is that the trans instructor wasn't alone in trashing this essay! a whole other person also said they agreed completely that it sucked. but as far as i can tell only the trans person is getting punished. www.oklahoman.com/story/news/e...

Any given trans person (particularly one in any role of power or prestige) is at risk of being forcibly cast as the villain in an algorithmic right-wing fairy tale by some grifter who's greatest dream in life is to be a pitchman for crypto schemes and off-brand fertility supplements

It's a certain type of online brain rot to believe that my posts about trans youth completing suicide, while being failed by the adults around them, is because of a cynical social media strategy rather than genuine anger at those creating the circumstances that lead to those tragedies.
