Yeah. Osaka has a small venue and the tournament happens during peak tourist season in a tourist heavy city, bad combo for availability, yeah. Fukuoka is an underrated city at least! Great food and cheap accommodations.

BuySumoTickets is still around, but they've had to suspend tickets in Tokyo entirely. They now recommend Fukuoka (the November location) and Nagoya (the July one) as the best way to get tickets from them for the foreseeable future.

Yep! The one such event I can tell you about is that some couple brought their receipts to the gate and tried to use them as a ticket. They were refused and threw a temper tantrum and caused quite a ruckus. Quite a no-no in Japanese culture. They were too stupid to see the sumo.
