The first episode of the original Ultraman is on the official Ultraman YouTube Channel, with English subtitles.
It's an essential watch. Bias aside, I can't recommend the original Ultraman series enough.

I read a wee bit of the manga but drifted away from it. Also interested to see how it turned out.

This article is right on the money by saying that the simple "Translation and lettering provided by Shogakukan" credit is cowardly.

Maybe Shogakukan required that wording. Maybe they didn't.

Either way, it is deceptive to not label this localization as what it is: slop.
Because they know it is.

The Bat-Credit card!🤡🤡

It's a Canadian film with a smaller budget, the actors are (to me at least) complete unknowns, which works considering what they're aiming for. It's not a terrifying film, but it can frequently be a very uncomfortable one.

The film isn't too old (2012), however you do feel a bridge between old and current perceptions of conspiracy theories. It sounds too cynical and exaggerated, but if you seen it happen, you wouldn't be terribly surprised.

Again, found footage movies are not my thing. Unless it's Blair Witch Project, most of them don't really seem to understand how the subgenre works, or it's treated more like a style. I like The Conspiracy because it's a quietly real scenario, with nothing supernatural.

2. The Conspiracy
A pair of documentary filmmakers interview a raving street conspiracy theorist...only to be compelled by his research (one more than the other). The theorist suddenly disappears, and the pair attempt to pick up the trail.

Apparently this was also the movie that sold George Lucas on Irvin Kershner, when he was after a director for Empire Strikes Back.
I can't say there's anything really comparable between the two movies, but good call, George.

I'm not a fan of Italian Giallo horror movies. Laura Mars has a lot in common with these movies, but I ended up really liking it. Maybe because there's more substance than style here. It's an intriguing mystery, with some great performances.

Directed by pre Empire Irvin Kirshner, and written by pre Halloween John Carpenter. Faye Dunaway and Tommy Lee Jones star, alongside a cast of beloved character actors (Rene Auberjonois, Brad Dourif, Raul Julia)
