Immune evasion of dormant disseminated tumor cells is due to their scarcity and can be overcome by TΒ cell immunotherapies Dormant disseminated tumor cells (DTCs) persist despite anti-tumor immunity. How these cells evade immunosurveillance is unknown. Goddard etΒ al. reveal a previously unappreciated form of immunoevasion called β€œrelative scarcity” that underlies DTC persistence. TΒ cell-based immunotherapies increase interaction frequency between DTCs and antigen-specific TΒ cells, leading to DTC depletion.

2/ The relative scarcity of interactions between dormant disseminated tumor cells (DTC) and antigen specific T-cells explains immune evasion for metastasis! The authors reveal immune-strategies to overcome this for DTC eradication.
