“I find no comfort in the Trump administration’s embrace of my people, on college campuses or elsewhere," the first Jewish president of Wesleyan, Michael Roth, writes. "Jew hatred is real, but today’s anti-antisemitism isn’t a legitimate effort to fight it.”
I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.
Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.
Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.
"Democratic senators should listen to the women." Abso-fuckin-lutely.
Thank you, @kaine.senate.gov for joining the filibuster to stop Russ Vought’s confirmation
His reactions (both during the service and after) are of course predictable.

Great guide on the praxis and theory of GenAI refusal as a strategy and tactic. Even for those embracing GenAI, this guide offers an excellent boundary-setting process.
Also, three researchers I respect immensely.

#ungradingchat A1: I do this, too. I also talk about how hard self-evaluation is, and how helpful it is to practice it.
I feel seen
Happy to see you back! I was a columnist years ago and loved writing for LM
This is really familiar to me as well! And i get their strategic choice, but I also wish they’d take full advantage of, for example, opportunities for revision that could really benefit their learning! #UngradingChat
Me, too! I feel that this is my next big step with #Ungrading— I haven’t quite figured out how/where to build more of this work into the early part of the semester. #UngradingChat
Q4: I ask students to identify their course goals at the start of the semester, then use those goals—along with the course objectives—for self-evaluation at the end of the semester. They write reflections, and assign themselves a grade. I might not agree, but I take it into account. #UngradingChat
Having lots of conversations with colleagues lately about AI and writing. This video from Tressie McMillan Cottom is a big help to me in thinking about why resistance makes sense. www.instagram.com/reel/DBKllBx...

I’m in, thanks!
#3 is key for me. It’s hard! No one likes to do self-evaluations, and many Ss (and us!) have defaulted to “completing” it at times. So working through that is hard.
My biggest challenge is with helping students understand/take seriously their role in evaluation. At the end of the semester students turn in a portfolio of their revised work with a self-evaluation. Helping them with that self-evaluation is the biggest challenge.
My grading philosophy is to focus on growth and development.
Triumphantly outside!
I just wrestled my duvet back into its cover and I think I deserve a prize now. Or a nap. Maybe both. Also I think that was my workout today.
Showed up on my end—thanks!
I know you already know it, but I love Michelle Martin‘s work on this.
Church, laundry, baking, reading student work. Thanks for reminding me about planning, too!
Thanks for adding me!
As usual, @roxanegay.bsky.social nails it. We’re in for some tough times, and our job is now resistance. (We knew that, but she says it with such clarity.)
I have a photo of one of those bridges hanging in my kitchen. RVA bridges and the James River are the best.
Nearby but not under it, I think
