Captivating read again from Val. Enjoyed via the audiobook, read by one of my favourite performers.
This has been on my TBR list for too long. A great collection of stories from some of the best crime writers in the country.
First blog of the year. Read all about it, etc. ✍🏻📚🔪🏴🇬🇷
Final festive read of the season and it was great. Classic Christmas crime style story with the inventors of Cluedo as the main characters, what’s not to love?
❤️💛🤝 Mark Wilson and Ts'oanelo Lets'osa visited Refuweegee HQ on Wednesday to learn more about the work they do.
Tomorrow, Jags For Good will be collecting donations to support Refuweegee ahead of our game against Ayr.

The first writing project of 2026 is complete. Soon off to test reader after a quick edit of final chapters. The Greek novella thriller will be published soon. ✍🏻🔪🇬🇷🏴

Scott Patterson.
Final read of 2025 was my traditional festive time genre. This one was interesting, started with a bang via a great premise, before changing to a slow burn right up to a great climax.
Happy Jolabokaflod, to all who celebrate it! 📚☕️
It’s Christmas Eve, which means time for a festive read and a listen to Family Life by The Blue Nile 🎄🎶❤️
Another excellent story from Denise Mina. The change of narrator from the first in the series was a little unfortunate as they didn’t perform as well as her. Didn’t distract from the story with a fantastic climax.
Damon Gray.
Denise Mina is very quickly becoming one of my favourite Scottish authors, I’ve yet to read one of her novels without being thrilled. Consumed this via audiobook, which was excellently performed by Cathleen McCarron.
Didn’t quite reach the heights of the first one, but still very enjoyable. On to this next one…
My evening’s plans - continue writing my thriller novella. My evening’s achievements - watching 74 different angles of Scotland’s goals from last night. I’m not disappointed. 🏴⚽️❤️✍🏻
I Am Mine is the fifth on the DI Joanne Christie series set in Edinburgh. #crimewriter #crimewritersofbluesky #edinburgh #tartannoir #ianrankin #scotland #bloodyscotland
It’s here - DI Joanne Christie book 5. I Am Mine is a locked room mystery set in an Edinburgh hotel. Link at Books section of my website.
A re-read from my teens. A lot crammed into such a short novel that would become the great Hellraiser movie. Barker is certainly a more talented writer than many I have read within the horror genre.
Latest blog now available to read, with grovelling apologies, DI Christie book 5 update and a nod to Jonathan Creek…
Decided to listen to an old series from Val on audiobook and so glad we did. Great opening and delighted there are another 5 to get stuck into.
No, but your Word doc will want you to…
Was amazing to hear from and meet the wonderful Alan Davies. When our daughters were growing up, Jonathan Creek was one of the few TV shows we all loved watching together. Looking forward to reading his next chapter.
Heartbreakingly honest account. At times a difficult read made easier by his lovable humour. Looking forward to seeing him in Edinburgh and reading what happened next.
Another superb offering from Val, this time a standalone novel that has you on the edge of your seat throughout. Great performance from the narrators also.
Having read some of the short stories, I’ve wanted to read the four novels for some time. If the first one is anything to go by, I’m in for a treat. A lesson in crime writing excellence.
Another great audiobook listen with a fantastic group of narrators. The usual collection of interesting characters we’ve come to expect from Lucy and great twists.
Another great, twisty thriller that was again enjoyed via the audiobook. Although the characters are very exaggerated, it’s such an enjoyable ride, learning the backstories and plots before finally learning who has been killed and by whom.
