Denmark is about to buy new frigates worth billions 💰⚓️ - replacements for these 👇

Naturally, Europe’s major naval shipyards are now on charm offensives in Copenhagen.

Ah, I see. I mean they have to call it before October 1st. The multi-party gov was tripping over each other to prepare for the election.
This was the PMs last chance to "surprise" the rest and have the advantage of initiative. Polls are also as good as they will get (partially due to Greenland).

There is no need for a greater mandate for the gov on Greenland, where there is complete consensus. Don't know why the BBC frames it this way.

Want to know why state agents carry out brutal repression — or participate in illegal coups?

Our new book "Making a Career in Dictatorship" provides answers — it just got published by @academic.oup.com:

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

My colleague Kevin Munger asked me and a bunch of editors to sit and think through AI and peer review. Our take:

We envision an increased (!) involvement of humans in the evaluation of social science.

I mean, many peoples can't survive to see that episode. Didn't make it through the rest of the season after that.

Fascinerende paper! Ryger lige ned i min econ-research-mental-health mappe, hvor der kommer mange interessante studier ud i disse år.

Excited to have just finished this pre-analysis plan with @larahankeln.bsky.social, @johannesbrehm.bsky.social, and Henri. It will be interesting to see which, if any, of our predictions will be borne out by the data. More on that in the new year. In the meanwhile, let me tell you about our theory.

🚨NEW WORKING PAPER🚨 Why are many Latino immigrants *not* naturalizing, learning English, and participating in American politics? We provide new theory and evidence across 3 surveys and an instrumental variables approach to show how migration motives shape immigrant integration. tinyurl.com/3expvu8e

Asaro is a new cafe by the gov department; very good, recommended! And 30 minutes in the free art museum + coffee there is also good if not done before.

My thought was the extent to which this could have been solved over email. But I don't think that would have done it, and that it is beneficial to have this comment public for cumulative learning.

Fantastic article! Enjoyed reading it in @feyaadallie.bsky.social seminar on comparative political behavior recently.

I am agnostic to what the right proces should've been here.

My main doubt: why not simply email the authors about the weights, before performing the replication? If the aim is knowledge accumulation, this seems to be the shortest path.

Absolutely- It was just to say that it is unclear whether the authors will get the final word, or whether we are fallting into a reply-reply-reply-… doom loop
