‼️UPDATE: FOSTER FOUND! This precious dog will be rescued by Perfectly Imperfect Pups on Monday! She will have wonderful care, lots of love, and nourishing food. Thank you beyond words to her foster family, to PIPs, and to everyone who shared her, prayed for her, and helped to find her foster!

As we move through these times, we have a choice from moment to moment to lose ourselves and align with shadow or to stand in the light of truth, wisdom, love, and honor. We walk a fine line. We must stay informed and take appropriate action while maintaining our inner compass and choosing to remain true to the light of our spirits. As MLK Jr. said long ago, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." My darling and I try hard to remember that and keep ourselves aligned with love. Sometimes we fail entirely, but then we pick ourselves up and heed the call of the heart. We seek out moments of joy, usually with our animal companions and/or in nature, because it's all too easy to get burned out by the onslaught of what is happening. Without love and joy, the path becomes murky and too hard to navigate, so we look for those small moments when we can embrace the light of our true selves and expand into that essence. There's a lot going on in our lives, including my mother recovering from a stroke and then carotid stent surgery and his best friend of 50+ years going into hospice as of Thursday. Of course, we have our own physical and emotional challenges, so he makes sure to practice mindfulness and go to his Saturday morning online sangha every week, and I do my art and meditate as often as I can. Music reminds us of better days; it sparks hope and awakens inner truth. We find solace in the small miracles that might go unobserved if we stop paying attention. A carpenter bee buzzed me repeatedly this afternoon. A gorgeous dragonfly, the first I've seen this season, hovered near me at length. We both noticed a plump and happy songbird preening outside the kitchen window. We are grateful for the signs that serve to remind us to be who we are and live our light even in such times.

Despite everything she’s been through, she is still incredibly loving, both with people and other dogs. She urgently needs to get out of the shelter so she can start healing. She deserves a warm home, a full belly (preferably filled with about 5,000 cheeseburgers!), and a second chance at life. I so miss my old friend. I love her books.

Oh my God, it's happening here. My husband and I decided to get lunch from an established and well loved grocery, take out counter, and pastries place after seeing numerous recommendations on Cary pages about how good they are. I pulled up at the same time as a very large food product delivery truck. The driver and I approached the door at the same time, to discover that the windows and door had all been covered in black plastic along with a sign saying that it was closed due to "immigration" issues. The driver had to go back to his truck and figure out what to do with all the food that would not be delivered there today. I got back in my car and literally burst into tears, thinking about the hard-working men and women who worked there, and the good service they had provided to our town. This feels so horribly wrong. 😭

A friend who lives 20 minutes from me just posted this, and I'm in tears. Good people who paid taxes and contributed to their community and loved this country are being taken because of evil immigration policies.
