I only use bobbins for my biggest colors of each project—I will trim my skeins and re-band them, wrapping 1-2 of the 6-strand sets around the middle for easy grabbing.

If I’m using a limited-pocket container, I sort them by evens and odds, that way with a needle gauge, I usually only have to judge by color or rough sizes (I have a bunch of Susan Boyles and Knitpicks, all colored different per size)

Now knitting flat vs in the round can actually make a huge style difference, especially for stuffed animals. (Finishing Seams create intentional tension and stretch, vs a solid spherical shape).

Thankfully not many infant hats need knitting flat, especially to keep seams from being irritating.

I have never met a pattern that needed DPNs vs Circulars, except when there are short rows (like making sock heels or stuffed animal curves).
Check the pattern, if no short rows (you knit the full row every time) then you’re fine! If there are short rows, bring extra stitch markers.

Yeah, you definitely shouldn’t put those live stitches on a spare piece of yarn…
