One of my first pieces for Short Cuts in 2012 was 'Can't Rewind The Past': soundcloud.com/listentostev...
I've made loads more since then, right up until the most recent series. Falling Tree enabled me - URGED me - to be more creative, more experimental, more risky.
So sad it's leaving Radio 4.
Thanks Saul, that's kind of you to say. And that fascinating rhyming slang connection with "birdlime" which I think you pointed out today, gets a mention in Side A of the mixtape!
19.11.2024 17:59 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm not seeing enough love for James' brilliant Radio 4 documentary about Bullseye so here it is

You can read more about James McMahon here - www.nme.com/news/music/j... - includes some lovely words from @conormcnicholas.bsky.social plus a link to a JustGiving page set up by James's wife, Kat, to support people with OCD. I'm sending love to Kat, and to all who loved James x
19.11.2024 17:38 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0After we made the Bullseye doc, James and I plotted more projects. Even when he was really ill, he kept the ideas coming. He had so much to give.
(He also acquired the vintage Bendy Bully shown here, and insisted I keep it, which I have. He was kind like that.)

Hello. I've returned from holiday to re-emerge here on bluesky... and to learn that James McMahon has died, at the sickeningly young age of 44. James hosted the Radio 4 doc we made about the TV darts quiz 'Bullseye' in 2021. James was hugely talented, hugely creative, a joy to work with. RIP.
