Drinking coffee and pair programming with a cat.

It is a nice t-shirt. :)
08.01.2025 14:22 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Unfortunately that is a very bad misinterpretation of that quote. The full quote goes "When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich" and is attributed to Jacques Rousseau during the french revolution.

Happy new year!
2025 is going to be the year for Linux on desktop!
Also a HL3 release.
I built a CMP app over the weekend only to realize that the Android phone I had for testing doesn't have the necessary hardware support (UWB). iPhone version works though... 🤷
30.12.2024 13:52 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That looks like a nice chart library for KMP. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. :)
Currently I need something a bit more advanced. Check the demos at D3.js to see what I mean.
If you want to do some more advanced data visualization, is it still D3.js which is the go-to solution or do we have something better these days? #data #dataviz #developer

I wouldn't say they have LOTS of extra money...
Apparently Space Karen thinks we should stop donating to Wikipedia.
You know what to do.

I was playing around with Ultrawide Band (UWB)to test out some ideas I have. However, only the top tier Android phones (Pixel Pro and Samsung Galaxy S) have support for this.
Meanwhile, the iPhone has supported this since the iPhone 11.
This is an amazing story!
24.12.2024 16:29 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0That is sort of what happens now with BLE. Some application level stuff is still happening, but it's around audio which makes it more valid. The rest of the stuff are low level improvements.
Still years until we see a wide adoption of these improvements.
Or you hire me to build it for you. ;)

This happens to all software, only it happens faster for apps. This is why software developers will be needed. How can the code be structured so we can reuse as much as possible when rebuilding for the new scenarios will be a more important skill than simply producing working code.
21.12.2024 09:40 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0When both the hardware they run on, and the use case they are supposed to fulfil changes frequently, the entire codebase becomes wrong. It's like we would try to fit an airport into a harbour.
AI doesn't help at all when we reach this point, because the context of the code is wrong.
I love the example of the airline app. The thing with the apps we build for smartphones is that they need to be scrapped every 3-4 years. That goes against the "common sense" that you should refactor instead of rewrite software.
The problem with apps is that everything around them changes so fast.
Post your favorite Star Trek character. Wrong answers only.
My favourite Scotty.
Lock-in happens all the time and it's not inherently bad. Language and culture are lock-in examples.
The difference is that we can expand on those. Bluetooth should have stopped when they reached the application layer and just focused on P2P communication.
Yes, when you control both devices you can cut through the broken parts easily.
