We can’t move forward because we can’t fix what we won’t face. So MAGA is sending a very clear message: they simply don’t care to face or fix this.

MAGA argues that all this discussion of racism and slavery is dividing us and thus needs to stop. You know what’s really dividing us? Refusing to reckon with our storied past and how it proliferates into the present moment. What’s dividing us is the failure to engage in genuine repair.

What you refuse to reckon with will reckon with you

Call me crazy, but if you’re more offended by slavery being taught in museums than the tragedy of slavery happening in the first place then maybe…just maybe…you’re the problem.

Or that enslavers threw African people overboard en masse during their transatlantic voyage for insurance money (look up the Zong Massacre). So we’re talking about a regime that wants to sanitize an already sanitized national understanding of enslavement.

The most wild thing to me about this claim from the White House that the Smithsonian museums are "too woke” is that we already get a super tempered history of slavery in this country. We’re rarely taught that enslavers used to literally eat us.

Cracker Barrel unveiled a new logo without the old white man. MAGA called it a “woke rebrand.” Within a day, the backlash forced the company to restore the original logo. Nothing like a challenge to the status quo to bring out unfettered white backlash and fragility.

We are all constantly inundated with sexualized imagery, and yet y’all are only offended when it’s not heterosexual. Careful, your homophobia is showing.

So tired of people like Snoop Dog proliferating the idea that seeing PG queer relationships on screen is inappropriate for children or too inconvenient to explain. Like bro you’re “scared” for your grandkids to see two married animated women kiss on screen? Really?

She deserved to grow old. To see her child grow up. Does your heart not break for all who knew and loved her?

This is Mariam Abu Dagga, a 33-year-old journalist killed by Israeli strikes on Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis. In her will, she told her 13-year-old son: “Never forget me and remember that your mother did everything she could to make you happy, comfortable, and at ease.”

He is no opponent of war crimes. He is their enabler.

When told about the hospital strikes, Trump muttered he was “not happy” and wanted to “end that nightmare.” Blasé, empty words. This is the same man who bankrolls Israel with our tax dollars and attacks free press here at home while defending an ally murdering the press in Gaza.

These are explicit betrayals of Jewish values falsely paraded out as mechanisms to protect the Jewish people. Utterly abhorrent.

Israel has now killed at least 197 journalists and struck hospitals again and again. Yet it continues to claim having “the most moral army in the world.” What morality is there in starving children, bombing doctors, and murdering reporters? This isn’t morality.

We are witnessing the calculated destruction of human life and the targeting of press and hospitals protected under

Netanyahu called Israel’s strike on Nasser Hospital — which killed at least 20 civilians, including 5 journalists — a “tragic mishap.” That was not a mishap. This is genocide.

The hypocrisy is the point.

I swear y’all better leave Ms. Rachel alone! She’s just out here advocating for Palestinian babies who deserve peace, safety, and a real childhood like every other child on earth. If that offends you then you’re the problem.

Why should anyone have to explain why a Black woman would refuse to be “escorted” by police? An institution rooted in slave patrols and systemic anti-Blackness? Of course she said no. Of course.

Let’s keep it a buck: Black women have always borne the brunt of hyper-surveillance and punitive measures in the U.S. What’s being done to Texas State Rep. Nicole Collier isn't a deviation from that status quo, it’s an explicit continuation of it.
