Anyways, I was at Fantasy last night doing HIV testing and it felt more different than it ever has before and I’m scared and sad and can’t shake this feeling

Just a few weeks ago, Fantasy had a GAY Banda perform live to a crowd full of happy, dancing gay Latines…and now we’re here…it breaks my heart, I’m scared and tired and hate being disappointed every fucking day by the world around me.

Meanwhile, spaces like Fantasy are struggling to get people through the door because they are scared. Noche vaquera, one of the only explicitly Latino nights in boystown, looks entirely different than it did even a month ago. Chicago’s segregation is disgusting and Boystown is not free of it.

Again, I ask, what are we going to do when ICE shows up. Sharing infographics (if even that) only does so much, because it’s not beyond me that most of the shows on the strip have almost all-white audiences, and I don’t trust white gays to do the right thing (clearly). So what are we doing?

More and more people are getting kidnapped in Chicago everyday. Spaces are getting emptier by the second. People are scared to leave their house. The man who was shot & killed by ICE in Franklin Park was down the street from where my mom works. They’re going to schools. They want to go to our clubs.
