Tennessee prison execution faces medical setback - Nashville Banner Tennessee prison officials did not get proper approval from Nashville General Hospital for execution of Byron Black. Hospital refuses to participate.

The state told a judge that they could deactivate Byron Black's defibrillator at General Hospital before his execution.

The problem? The hospital never agreed to it and now wants no part of helping the state kill Black.
