"For the next phase of my career, I look forward to some independence and finding new spaces to share my work in line with my personal goals."

Another CBS News journalist leaving and talking about independence. Bit of a not-so-subtle hint at what's happening over there.

This introduction of a key to the executive washroom is one of a hundred Wilder structural masterstrokes of The Apartment. Everything you ever need to know about screenwriting is in this movie.

The repetition and lyricism of the picture means that the film is as much music as anything.

In accepting his WGA award, Stephen Colbert named and said something funny about each of his 20 writers so they’d be hired when his show ends 🥹

"All the President's Men" was a warning Nearly 50 years later, the film feels less like a triumphant ode to journalism than a warning about media decay.

Caitlin KALINOWSKI over X

I resigned from OpenAl. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together.
This wasn't an easy call. Al has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I'm proud of what we built together.

OpenAI head of robotics just resigned over company deal with the Pentagon saying…

For those who have forgotten the past 40 years:

Tax cuts for the rich
...don’t trickle down

Boosting military spending
...doesn’t bring peace

Slashing regulations
...doesn’t create jobs

Folks, we’ve seen this all before.

Have you seen the commercial that brought down Kristi Noem?

It’s even more bizarre than I expected.

Mayor Mamdani and a child play with Legos while looking very serious and concentrated. The child is impossibly adorable and wearing tiny blue glasses.

No interruptions, please. We’re building universal child care.

We don’t talk enough about how morally depraved the tech industry turned out to be. Every single ounce of their self-regarding statements of values was an outright lie.

They're going to write books about all the big brain moves of this gang of imbeciles and among them will be "Spending a year trying to kill renewable energy and then launching a war that sends oil prices soaring"

Holy shit! This is a whole ass shit show. This is an American woman living in the UAE. My country is being run by complete imbeciles right now. Not to mention how badly they’re lying to us with little amount of information they are putting out. I’m just ashamed. #TrumpsEpicFailure

On NJ Transit on the way home and the train just died.

Just another day/reminder of how “the richest and most powerful nation in the world” cannot do mass transit.

We can afford a war and build concentration camps, but not mass transit.

Today's abysmal jobs report is a reminder that tax cuts for corporations and the rich don’t create jobs or grow the economy.

What's required is investment in working people — and better wages.

When workers have money to spend, the economy grows and businesses create more jobs.

Remember this.

So far the war in Iran has cost an estimated $5.5 billion.

That's roughly $1 billion per day.

$41,666,667 per hour.

$11,574 per second.

People do not want this.

They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

I know I sound crazy but instead of spending a billion dollars in a day to kill people in another country we should try spending a billion dollars in a day to help people in this country.

Yesterday I read an interview with the singer in a punk band who uses GenAI to help with writing his texts.

Punk. The whole point of punk was that if you know how to play 3 cords badly and have something to say just fucking go for it.

kind of crazy that if you have enough money and don't like what you see in the media, you can just buy up every film studio, news station, and social media app and change it

U.S. Soccer Players Authorize Playing Strike Amid Tense Labor Talks The American second division could be moved from its scheduled 2026 start date.

The USL players deserve professional standards for their professional talent, and it’s time for the USL to deliver.

The players are ready to strike and fight for what they deserve. USL: do the right thing and bargain for a fair contract now.
