Oh I've found another more recent one, and yes Green voters are at the opposite pole from Reform voters on this. Wonder why the two parties' voters are furthest apart on the US but closest together on Russia.

This is the best poll I could find on this question, and unfortunately omits the Green Party. But yes once again there's a big difference with Reform voters and other parties.

Well yes, but as a general sense of political alignment you can clearly see Reform voters have been lot more positive about Russia than other parties. And Greens a bit more, 5% more than Labour. So yes I agree it doesn't say a huge amount about now, but it does give some general indications, surely.

Fair enough... but it's possible to be against two different things. I mean, it only took me two seconds to find this on YouGov. There's no framing that 'only Russia is bad' just as there's no framing that 'only Israel is bad'. Just two separate questions surely?

14.02.2026 22:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Well, ok, but logically what you say wouldn't even remotely make you indifferent about Russia. Surely you are as strongly against it as you are about all the other people and factions you list? Or does Russia get an exemption?

Archbishop Desmond Tutu explained the concept of being "neutral" in the face of oppression. There's no such thing.

This gives some support to Keir Starmer's comments today that "Reform and the Green Party share so much. They are soft on Russia and weak on NATO." The difference is small but significant with the Greens, and big with Reform.

And there's no such thing as being neutral on Russia. Neutral means pro.

First nude beach I visited was in Auckland, aged just 18. Was the start of a life-long passion for naturism. Not sure that beach is still used much, it's called Ladies Bay near St Helier.

Great video otherwise, and yes St Leonard's beach is rather vicious for getting in and out of the water.

Thanks Carley, wish the language wasn't so obscure to describe ethics, but it is important for naturism. The earliest statements in favour of naturism are ALL based on its positive consequences: its social and personal benefits.

Naturistsโ€™ Take on Artificial Intelligence

Anyway, I don't want to derail the original AANR post! I'm very impressed with AANR and its leadership and I like the way they have framed this nice and helpful article on the abuses of AI.

14.02.2026 01:53 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

So the Lebensreform naturists were literally arguing for communal nudity as a means to an end: it was a way of introducing social reform in order to improve the lives of the urban working class. They justified naturism because of its health and social benefits. That's utilitarianism.

14.02.2026 01:52 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And I've been impressed and pleased to see you arguing back against that.

The notion that naturism should be defined as nakedness (because nakedness is an absolute good) is a different ethical argument to anything the early naturists proposed.

14.02.2026 01:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

There is an alternative ethical argument that would be called 'deontological': a rule-based ethic that simply says 'nudity is a good in and of itself', irrespective of context or consequences.

Unfortunately some naturists argue just that these days.

Yes of course, but difficult with this word limit! Early naturists sought to 'justify' communal nudity by pointing to its benefits, explaining what the positive consequences are. This is the origin of naturist ethics, a utilitarian argument.

Well, this is an ethical argument for naturism (utilitarianism):

"Our aim is to exorcise nudity taboos in order that more of us can experience higher levels of body positivity, self-esteem, and life satisfaction."

The earliest arguments for naturism were all utilitarian, so far as I have seen.

13.02.2026 23:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Well yes indeed, that's another very good reason why I avoid AI, and have serious reservations about it. But two things can be true at the same time, and this was a short article about a specific abuse of AI around consent, nudity and harassment. There's some good, ethical naturism in that article!

13.02.2026 21:10 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yes that's a good article. And I think also AI is an entirely screen-based reality, but naturism is primarily about physical presence and community, the body in the here and now.

This is what we're up against. Bangor University, that fine and noble institution where I've spoken twice, nearly 150 years young and still going strong. The sheer hatred they reserve for us shows what could happen after 2029, but also that they're frightened of knowledge and learning.

The Helms-Biden Act Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. is now best known as the 46th president of the United States (2021-). He previously served as Barack Obama's vice-president (2009-2017). As such, he was a fixture in the United Nation's general assembly. Nonetheless, Mr. Biden's most durable UN legacy comes from his time in the US Senate. For a decade (1997-2007), the Delaware representative alternatively served as president of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee or as ranking member. Starting 1994, a Republican-dominated Congress started talking of a refusal to pay America's dues to the United Nations. The organization, it was argued, needed to be reformed, and America's contribution to the UN budget reduced. In the late 1990's Congress consequently refused to appropriate payments. As time went by, the US started to accumulate significant arrears (approximately one billion dollars). To solve the problem, together with fellow senator Jesse Helms (Republican, North Carolina), Biden co-sponsored the Helms-Biden Bill (signed into law by president Clinton in 1999). The Act stipulated that US would release the much-needed money under the condition that its demands were met. Additionally, US Ambassador to the UN Richard Holbrooke persuaded other nations to accept the bi-partisan US legislation, even if this meant they would have to massively increase their own contribution to the world body. To be sure, the Act was passed in a very dissimilar era, and Biden served in a different capacity then. Nonetheless the making of this legislation provides insight into the current president's diplomatic approach. To what extent has Biden's ability to reach across the aisle diminished? What can be said of his unorthodox "strategic empathy" approach? What does the Act reveal of the nature of the US-UN relationship? These are some of the questions that we wish to explore in this presentation.

Although this has been the situation for a LONG time unfortunately, the US has regularly owed huge arrears to the UN. Joe Biden helped draft an Act in 1999 to address the issue of funding: hal.science/hal-04306565

Oh my goodness, PM finally standing up to one of our would-be-Musk-or-Trump billionaires. Ratcliffe's figures on immigration were either lies or idiotically wrong. Even the BBC dared to point that out. More of this please.

Well then how about "creative naturist innovator and early adopter"? ๐Ÿ˜‚

The way she took naturism into a domestic setting, particularly the kitchen and baking, was something new and inspiring. And I've told her so. Full respect from me too! Glad you reported that weird account.
