Working in the first of six. Making my linework base map before painting. I found my brain works better when using colored pencils for my line art.
Also it melts into the watercolor better later.

The oil painting is on pause as I realized that my current space and set up is not good for the medium.
So back to watercolors I go, just in time to get a big commission project! ❤️

Trying to regain my green thumb with some pumpkins and carrots and plotting a cozy spicy coloring book.

It may not look like much but doing hands on learning with a new medium to reinforce the knowledge about color theory does help.
And I am digging the texture FOR ONCE. 😅

Welcome to the gnarliest place on earth. Adulthood. Be it children, pets or self, vomit is one of the WORST things to clean that one encounters in the day to day way of things.

Learning to oil paint is both scary and rewiring the brain to do it is hard.

Especially when one brush tries to sabotage you. It got put in brush jail.

Being outside in the awkward outdoors fighting for your life to be comfy and paint without sending brushes flying or spilling paint water on yourself and not getting bugs in the paint. But somehow also enjoying being aired out like a musty blanket.

Daylight helps. But only a little. I’m gonna fix his eyes. Fix the edge and inner folds of his wings. Do the gold earrings and maybe black out his claws before calling quite.

That’s soooo pretty. I just tried out the a gallo Layne’s grey and it’s such a luscious blue shaded paynes grey. Which one is this?

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I DO have some skills. And seeing these two commissions for a friend reminds me of that. Though I don’t think I’ll ever get over that even of pink 😭
