Oh I need to watch that
04.10.2025 15:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I know! Thatβs what I watched it on. Iβm going to watch In The Mouth of Madness next, Iβve never seen that.
I think I might watch Vampires as well. I saw it and I do remember it but I want to see how it lands now.
John Carpenterβs Prince of Darkness highlights:
- Alice Cooper stabbing a dude with a bicycle
- Walter, in general
- the Donald Pleasance and Victor Wong double act
- the mirror special effect
- the dream footage
- the last fifteen minutes
If you're cancelling Game Pass today, grab a cheap indie game or two, and then put the rest of the money toward supporting indie games media by subscribing to your favourite podcasts/websites/etc.
01.10.2025 15:09 β π 729 π 279 π¬ 8 π 17So Iβve somehow never seen John Carpenterβs Prince of Darkness, something I am in the midst of correcting.
So far this is entirely my jam, but (atrocious, irrelevant but accurate take incoming) the grad student dialogue is hilariously bad.
"To avoid the appearance of a monarchy, it was long-standing tradition to only feature portraits of deceased individuals on currency and coin. That tradition became law with an 1866 Act of Congress."

A photo of the first page of AF's MPEG and movie CD (and CD32) focused featuring with a photo of a TV with an CD32 in front of it and an image of the Starship Enterprise 1701 Refit flying out of it. Cinema snacks are stood next to it to emphasise the home entertainment angle. "We are standing on the brink of a video revolution."
A snap of the 'Introducing MPEG' section where it emphasises how much of a game changer being able to encode 25MB/s of raw video file footage into something that a CD drive's 172k/s for a single speed drive transfer speed can handle without losing too much audio/visual quality.
Welcome to the Future - FMV.
I love finding features like these in old mags. Here in Amiga Format's April 1994 issue, we've got a feature on their hopes that the CD32 will be a home entertainment system for movie CDs, but also on the maturing MPEG standard and just why it's such a game changer.
Nice college youβve got here, be a real shame if anything happened to it.

Yes, Russia threatens that if anyone acts to counter Russian aggression then Russia will get aggressive and it'll be your fault. Heard that before.
At this point, how does anyone buy that Russia hasn't been really trying against Ukraine and Europe? That they could win but are holding back instead?
Three apparent members of a family, a dad, roughly 9 yo girl holding a doll and crying, and a mom, apparently of Latino background, surrounded by three armed, uniformed, masked men, members of border patrol.
Do these men feel big, in their uniforms and battle rattle, their masks and their sunglasses, hauling away a little girl and her doll?

I recently finished the video game Cloudpunk by Ion Lands on PC. Itβs a fun, thoughtful cyberpunk tale of a delivery driverβs first night in Nivalis, a failing & collapsing city that spares no one.
I loved moving through the neon city in my flying car, making deliveries and questionable decisions!
