If it's not immediately clear to you why this is bad:

- It ignores the victims
- It implies the perpetrators are the actual victims as opposed to beneficiaries
- It implies the atrocity would be good if it was beneficial to the perpetrator (which they are)

Been noticing this trend lately where people frame the perpetrators of history's worst atrocities as the victims, while presenting as being against said atrocities.

Obviously it's good to argue against colonialism, but if you're doing it in the wrong way, it may do more harm than good

I've always found this type of argument very silly. Would the invasion be okay if the majority of Americans approved of it? Of course not. You should be opposed to it in principle, not because it's unpopular
