Simple information about what the SAVE Act would actually do to American voters. Tens of millions would lose their right to vote unless they spend lots of $$$ and jump through bureaucratic hoops before November.

I realize that to people outside the PNW this is just an interesting news item, but if you're in the PNW, where tracking orca pods is a local religion, this is basically like being visited by alien gods

Photo by author, 23:35 March 11; three nebulous green bands of aurora over a well-let neighborhood. Photo taken at 23:35 on March 11, by Christopher Mathews, with many green and purple bands over a cozy A-frame cottage in the countryside.

I get asked on my tours: do we need to leave the city to see the #aurora, or conversely can you even see the #northernlights within the city?

Well, here's a comparison, taken at the exact same time, mine from near downtown, the other from the #iceland countryside by @christophermathews.bsky.social.

This Great Blue Heron took a break from fishing in a small pond (where the heron was catching tiny fish) to perch in an Eastern Red Cedar.

Beaks and eyes pointed down, a pair of roseate spoonbill chicks press their heads together while standing atop a nest in the Orlando Wetlands.

You've probably seen some photos of this roseate spoonbill nest in the Orlando Wetlands, because I've seen about 500 photos of it, and there were a couple dozen more photographers there snapping away while I was. #birds

Comic. [Person with microphone in front of three people standing behind their own desks with drawers and a round box on top. The boxes of the first and last are shaking with their lids slightly raised.] PERSON WITH MIC: And now, for the final round, you have each been given a skunk with a hangover and chewing gum stuck to its fur. You have 30 minutes. Good luck. [caption] The Home Remedy World Championships

In einer Gruppe von lilafarbenen Krokusblüten mit orangefarbenen Staubgefäßen, sitzt eine Hummel auf einem Krokus. Man kann nur den Hinterleib der Hummel sehen.

Peach trees with pink blossoms, just beginning to bloom. Alternating rows of grass and dirt can be seen underneath the trees. Beyond the orchard is a natural forest of pine and hardwood trees. Sky is blue.

Warm weather has arrived in Georgia, and with it comes peach blossoms! These trees are a variety that produces early peaches. Other varieties bloom and produce later in the season.

A photograph of a Willow branch, showing several soft, silvery-grey furry catkins along a bare woody stem. One catkin in the centre has burst open releasing its golden pollen where two flies are seen feeding. The background is bright in a buff colour. Taken on 5 March 26 UK

The Willow trees now providing much needed early food for all the emerging pollinators - lovely to see them again!

Happy #FlyDay everyone. Wishing you all the best weekend possible 📷🕊️

A large grey lynx walks down a snowy road looking incredibly badass.

I'm celebrating half a century on this planet today and it's also #WorldWildlifeDay. I know there's a lot of darkness, but the world is still full of so much beauty. Let's celebrate it by sharing our favourite wildlife photos.

Three quarters of the moon is visible in a black sky over San Diego tonight.

Building up to the Full Moon on March 3rd, tonight’s 78% illuminated waxing gibbous phase. Lots of nice crater detail along the right edge of the shadow.

A Lunar eclipse is also just days away. It will be almost complete seen from the California coast.
