I'll be chatting tonight about Val Mulkerns and her first book, A Time Outworn, on Arena, RTE radio's excellent arts programme. The covers of the 1951 Chatto & Windus edition, and the brand new one from 451 Editions, marking the centenary of Val's birth on Valentine's Day 1925

As a middle class woman of a certain age, where is there a rolling pin when you need one?

Looking forward to seeing how sector (e.g FAME @aitchis1.bsky.social) respond.

Several arch employers are taking the issue seriously & raising pay. But what of the rest?

We can't keep ignoring difficulties that workers in sector are facing: it's a race to the bottom right now.

So depressing. I remember years ago being on site when an earlier report said average salary for young archaeologists was £12.5k. The young archaeologists on site demanded to know who these jammy bastards were.
