No full business case, no problem for the Lower Thames Crossing.
Shocking that billions are being squandered on this 'smart' motorway. The government is playing fast and loose with taxpayers' money for a scheme that will deliver little economic benefit.

Our rivers are polluted. And sewage is not the only problem 😨
Road runoff and National Highways' proposal to tackle just 182 (less than 15%) of “high risk” outfalls and soakaways before 2030 is a huge issue. actionnetwork.org/letters/stop...

No, it isn't :(
I've recently been looking to move house, and as I'm unable to drive, I've noticed many newer estates don't have a shop or a bus service. I'd be trapped and reliant on deliveries. That's no way to live.
🚨 LAST CHANCE: Today is the final day to demand a better transport plan for Greater Manchester!
An 8% traffic reduction isn't enough to reach Net Zero by 2038 or make our streets safe for everyone. 🚲🚌

Most road runoff filtration systems are made by UK companies - so investing in tackling road runoff would be investing in UK jobs, wildlife, rivers + water security, as @stormwater-jo.bsky.social explains in our joint podcast with @planetpossible.bsky.social:

Thank you. Essential to call this out. Market towns here in Hampshire had significant development 2015-25 but public transport provision collapsed in that period.
What’s the point of the NPPF provision to ‘align growth and infrastructure’ (para 2.11a) if no Local Plan delivers it?
LAST CHANCE: Respond to this consultation before it closes tomorrow!

In our latest blog post we focus on the campaign to save the Queensbury Tunnel.
Grant Shapps’ intervention in 2020 should have been the end of it, but sadly that was not the case...

Surely not many people still believe it. The Financial Times revealed last year that the cost of the Lower Thames Crossing had jumped 17% to £11bn in just 9 months!

The Labour government has not published any long-term transport strategies nearly two years after being elected.
Radical ambition is now needed to turn around what has become the biggest source of UK emissions.

That assumed earlier climate plans would be delivered, which is looking unlikely.
Last June, we secured a historic victory in the Court of Appeal against cuts to active travel funding, revealing new evidence that official targets would be way off track without shifting funding.
By 30 June 2026: The Government is required to set the level of climate ambition for 2038 to 2042, a process known as the seventh carbon budget.
The Climate Change Committee recommended an 87% cut of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from 1990 levels was needed. 🧵

A powerful short film about the impact of a lack of bus services on a community of Gamesley near Glossop (NW Derbyshire). Well worth a watch 👇

Stormwater Shepherds has pointed out that there is no shortage of treatment technologies and devices for managing highway runoff.
What is missing is the will – and the funding – to implement them.
National Highways currently has Designated Funds exactly for this sort of purpose
