Pentagon Orders National Guard to Establish Quick-Reaction Forces for Civil Unrest, Riots The riot control units are a major shift, underscoring the Trump administration’s push to directly involve the military in responding to demonstrations and other domestic missions.

The Pentagon is creating National Guard riot control forces in every state that could respond to civil unrest.

The new "quick reaction" units — with about 500 soldiers each — demonstrate Trump's push to expand the U.S. military's role in targeting U.S. citizens in U.S. cities.

Kat is being federally charged by the FBI for protesting at Broadview.

This is a flagrant political prosecution by the Trump administration, which is trying to prevent free speech and free association.

I am proud of Kat. Her movement is being targeted by the government. She needs your support.

Dozens of States Sue Trump Administration Over Planned Food Stamp Cuts

The Trump administration has a rainy day fund that will keep SNAP from expiring in November. Trump is refusing to use it.

Funding SNAP isn't a choice he can make. It's a legal obligation. USDA must release the funds and stop punishing the American people.

...CATEGORY 5 MELISSA MAKES LANDFALL IN JAMAICA...
...ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL HURRICANE LANDFALLS ON RECORD IN THE ATLANTIC BASIN...
Melissa has made landfall in southwestern Jamaica near New Hope with estimated maximum sustained winds of 185 mph (295 km/h) and an estimated minimum central pressure of 892 mb (26.34 inches).
THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION! DO not leave your shelter as the eye passes over, as winds will quickly, and rapidly increase on the other side of the eye.
Residents should remain in place through the passage of these life-threatening conditions. To protect yourself from wind, the best thing you can do is put as many walls as possible between you and the outside. An interior room without windows, ideally one where you can also avoid falling trees, is the safest place you can be in a building. You can cover yourself with a mattress and wear a helmet for added protection.
The next position update will be provided with the intermediate advisory at 200 PM EDT (1800 UTC) .

#Melissa has made landfall in #Jamaica, and has preliminarily tied the record for the lowest pressure of any landfalling hurricane in Atlantic history: 892 mb. That was last observed 90 years ago with the 1935 Labor Day hurricane.
The storm does not look like it even notices Jamaica being there.

Perhaps the most ominous satellite presentation we've seen. Cat 5 Melissa within 2 hours of landfall in Jamaica. Winds at 185 mph (tied for 2nd highest on record). Pressure at 892 mb (tied for 3rd lowest). Will be one of strongest Atlantic storms to make landfall ever recorded.

892 mb and 185 mph. Very few places in the world in modern history have ever experienced what Jamaica is experiencing right now. Hurricanes of this magnitude directly hitting a major land mass are exceptionally rare.

USDA Website Blames SNAP Benefits Expiring On Trans People And Immigrants During Shutdown The benefits, which are set to expire on November 1st due to the government shutdown, will lead to millions of people struggling to secure access to food.

1. As SNAP benefits expire, 42,000,000 hungry people may turn to the USDA website.

Now, the website blames their hunger on transgender people and immigrants.

It's a cynical ploy, an an indication that anti-trans measures are a Trump priority for the shutdown.

That's right -- some parts of Jamaica will receive a year's worth of rainfall this week, and then get hit with 120mph+ sustained winds for hours on end as Hurricane Melissa makes landfall.
