I was kinda pacing during a quiet day at work and just thought about writing stuff. I have now figured out better ways to traumatize my characters that also make for legitimate ways to talk about how trauma affects people and how far right parties try to find token minorities as a mouthpiece. 😈

Over the past couple months I have had a lot of “oh shit that doesn’t work at all” moments. So now I am working on making sure my story actually works again lol.

Meant to mention this last week, but if you have a young person in your life who’s into history or graphic novels or just good books, buy them George Takei’s “They Called Us Enemy.” My oldest couldn’t put it down.

idk if it's being older, in the ascendency of fascism and its hatred of free thought, the arrival of creativity-killing GenAI slop, or the combination of all of it, but lately when I think/talk about human creativity and how beautiful and amazing it is I start to get teary-eyed. Can't help it.

I like to write settings that are more of a vibe and aesthetic of a particular time period rather than being set in that time period. This allows me to then play around and mix them up however I want without being restricted by the setting.

I hath returned from my long slumber and I have gotten back to writing. (I forgor this place existed, forgot writing existed and was dealing with stuff lol)

I'm outlining a scene and I just used the phrase "fighty fighty slash slash" and I mean like, if it works it works.

VERY REAL. If I was being critical of them, I would have problems with the xenoblade games, but love them and kinda just don't critique them cause they're just so damn fun.

A few weeks ago I wrote the eighth chapter of my book. Have I written eight chapters? No. But I did write the chapter that come eighth.

Including outlining and character notes, I have written over 10k words for my current story over the course of a few months. I am making slow but steady progress!

I just finished Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. I will now read all of his books with a religious fervor rivaling that of Dilaf, and find as much knowledge in his tomes as Raoden found in those of Elantris, if Domi wills it.
