Flock said it is now adjusting the way searches are flagged in Colorado, and a new guardrail would have prevented the Loveland account's "ICE" searches.

Search reasons such as "Immigration" or "ICE," will be auto-flagged and then blocked.

Of course, that requires honest input to be effective.

The ATF said the searches involving ICE were only for violent offenders.

Colorado law SB21-131 prohibits local agencies from sharing personal information with ICE without a warrant or subpoena. Colorado law does allow personal information to be shared if it's part of a criminal investigation.

Doran has not accepted any of 9NEWS' requests for interviews, including for this story.

Doran incorrectly said this line in a previous story is false:

“Immigration agents are not supposed to have direct access to the network.”

Doran said it’s “suggesting we were violating Colorado state laws. This is patently false.”

Flock confirmed that line in our reporting is accurate:

LPD told 9NEWS last week it does not monitor the content of the searches conducted by the ATF.

The chief criticized the 9NEWS’ reporting that uncovered the ICE searches, which he said, “misled readers and viewers.”

His statement has nearly 800 words, but none of them deny that LPD gave the ATF access, or that the ATF then used the access for ICE.
