I'm so sorry for your loss
I'm not sure what to build up: threads or here. Anyways I'll have publishing news soon. I'm only saying this here since no one will see it lol
Authors, what's the most you've rewritten or replotted a single book? I've lost track, but I think I'm up to 5.
Does anyone else get such great novel ideas in their dreams that you write them down while still dreaming?
Researching publishing story stories to KDP and charging like a couple cents
I take it as they don't know how they'd revise it to make it better.
I'm writing a dark academia novel that compares the institution of college to the right arm of white supremacy and yet I know readers won't consider it DA enough because it doesn't play into the aesthetics of dark academia. That's not all there is!
I'm getting back into fanfiction. Are they're any big ones I've missed?
If I succee in drafting and revising two more books for my agent in 2025, then I will be writing book 2 of my fantasy trilogy. Looking at a 2026 summer pub date?
I mean the Vikings were cool and all, but some of y'all just way too obsessed with them, there was some srsly banger shit happening around the world at the exact same time that was at least as interesting if not more
I am enjoying rereading my Yellowface x Candyman wip. However, I'm supposed to be revising a completely different novel for an editor
It's both comforting and saddening to read your book and know this one will probably reach more audiences because it's not about race
The shocking thing about me is that I actually don't enjoy going to bookstores. I often can't afford the books and I've picked up books that I absolutely did not need to own. But today at the airport, I found some books I've never heard of. Here's to reading new genres.
There's so many books I want to read with great premises, but then the reviews are too bad to take a chance on it. I'm really longing for a good romantic subplot with characters that I'll obsess over
Thank you! Let's hope publishing wants the same 😅
Just saw a book very similar to mine. Im holding out a bit of hope in the new year, but it's not looking good
Thanks 🥺 hopefully at least one editor also wants this
My next book is Yellowface but at a plantation museum. But would anyone even want to read this? It less about race and more about what we chose to write about as authors and researchers. But no one wants to touch race with a 30ft pole. Am I fucked?
Starting in January, I'm going to pretend my book sold and that I have fans demanding the next book. I'll take everything I'm jealous of in others and pretend it's mine
Spoiler alert: if a work explores “a dark chapter in our nation’s history,” chances are the subject is an ongoing series and not an isolated incident.
I wish I had the opportunity to connect with more offline. I studied it for a few years but most of the writers were there for the elective or weren't interested in pursuing a career. I plan to go back for my MFA, but I wanted to wait a decade. Now I might go back sooner to feel less alone
I'm tired of guessing what people want when I edit. I'm so often tempted to hire an editor just so someone can tell me how to fix things. But then I remember I shouldn't have to
I think a large reason I haven't been able to connect with other writers is my feeling unlikable. As if everyone can feel my desperation and automatically avoids me. I wish I had something to ease people into knowing me
It's a good day to be a New Jerseyan.
PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law Monday to prohibit public and school libraries from banning books in the state and to enshrine protections against civil and criminal charges for librarians who comply with the law.
This day 2 years ago I literally dreamt up the first act of my sapphic PJO urban fantasy, leading me to write the first draft in 14 days! This book forever has my heart 💜 Looking for a home at small press 👀

#Auhtors how are y'all tracking your total work count for the year? Is this a feature of #Scrivener?
