Here’s to the next 60 years of the Grateful Dead, the enduring American mystery cult.

Sitrep from the full run. Probably the longest Lovelight the Dead ever performed? Definitely the longest in-circulation recording.

Sitrep from the full run. From a 1969 rehearsal, but could really be from any show the band played in that era too.

Front cover of Loud & Clear by Brian Anderson. Wall of Sound with Bobby, Donna, Bill, and Phil mid boogie.

Slight quibble: Bill Weld wasn't governor of MA in 1972, but he did give us portopoppies outside the Garden in the 90s. 😊

Really like "Loud and Clear" by @thebanderson.bsky.social. 300 pages on a PA, good good stuff.

I totally get this approach to things. I couldn't do it with a band, but have done/am doing similar with decades-long runs of newspaper comic strips and similar... (next up on that list, the complete runs of Pogo and MAD.)

Oh, believe me, I still go back to certain shows. But how did I decide to start listening through all Dead concerts in sequence? I guess I felt it was just time and that the journey would be revealing, so I jumped in one day. I still have a very long ways to go. I’m only (β€œonly”) in April 1969.

TBD! I’m leaning toward keeping this purely, strictly Dead, and then working through the side/adjacent projects after. But we’ll see if the pathological completionist in me wins out in this current run.
