My thoughts as well. There are good and bad applications for the technology, but it can definitely supplement and enhance creativity in similar ways to many other digital tools. Branding all AI as problematic is discounting the potential.

In the past I would copy images from books, magazines, TV shows, websites, social media, basically whatever I could find them, because I struggle to put my ideas into practice. AI has actually helped me flesh out my ideas, but I'm some immoral deadbeat for using that tool and not the others?

It's not my job to defend AI against 1000 people screaming about how evil it is, but my point is that it isn't a one size fits all thing. People use it to make money, others use it to enhance their creativity, other use it for fun. It helps me out a lot when I'm struggling to find my creativity.

Why would I do that when there is a convenient program that will help me create my idea as I imagine it in the style and medium that I request, exactly how I specify? I'm not a great artist, not very creative, have 0 resources and only draw for fun. But you'll judge me? Not all uses of AI are evil.

If my son says "Dad, can you draw me a picture of a capybara eating Oreos on the beach?" and I Use AI for reference then draw it myself, am I a thief or a loser? A degenerate, certainly.

There are a wide array of applications and not everyone should be painted with the same brush.
