Some Antonov/Piranesi studies.

Piranesi made some incredibly famous capriccios (architectural fantasy) of prisons that didn't exist, also being able to convey some fantastic atmospheres. There's an etching from this series in the Graves gallery in Sheffield.

My art teachers, who thankfully let me onto the course without having studied at GCSE, encouraged me to compare Antonov's work to Piranesi.

I latched onto his amazing work for Dishonored, Half Life 2 and other titles during my A-level art course. I was mesmerised by the sense of brilliance, grandeur and looming dread he was able to convey with his direction.

I learned that an artist that was a great early inspiration for me, Viktor Antonov, has died.

It was through the lens of Antonov that I discovered my love of creating fantastical worlds through scenery and shape.

Perchance a little ink as a treat

Aaagh it's much appreciated, but I would not recommend eating the ink ❤️

A lively and sketchy depiction of a humanoid skeletal beast. It's head is obscured by an organic form, the shadow almost forming a mouth. The ribcage and minimal muscle that clings to the form is striated and rearranged, as if whatever was responsible for such an abomination was playing some cruel joke.
