Remote working is a bit of a grey area. If it’s just answering a few emails and having a Zoom meeting, this should be fine, but if the purpose of a holiday is to work full time from here, that might be an issue.

The only difference I can identify is that most people applying for a UK passport will have never given their biometrics before, so there may be more of a case in favour of having sign off on their identity. I’m not sure how strong an argument that is though.

It doesn’t look like they do. But you also can’t take the risk when making the application.

I really want to spread awareness of this ridiculous Home Office requirement that doesn’t get enough coverage in the hopes that it will finally be scrapped (since even the Home Office probably doesn’t want it) so please RT widely!

I was blown away to discover recently that fees for loads of stuff were only introduced in 2003. And the fees that did exist were pretty affordable - 33 quid for a student visa!
