I don’t know if anyone will be interested in this, but spinning off a conversation elsewhere…

There have been 2,257 days so far this decade.

In those days, I’ve watched 3,868 films.

Of those, 982 have been released this decade.

Of those, these 41 are the ones I’ve given full marks.

@pinkalpacas.bsky.social and I have now watched every nominee in the attached 16 categories for this years #AcademyAwards

My annual predictions will follow soon.

But for now, I’ll say, every single nominee in International is an absolute banger. Watch them all, if you can.

RIP Tom Noonan.

Obviously, I’m a massive fan of his work as Francis Dollarhyde/the Red Dragon in particular, but it was always a treat to see him appear in anything. Too many to list the best roles, but if you’ve never seen it, check out his superb X-Files episode, Season 4 Eps 10, “Paper Hearts”

RIGHT???!!!

Over 20 years that’s been on my shelf now and it *still* irks me every single time I look at it.

I keep meaning to look into getting a custom dust jacket, but it’s just below the threshold of that level of irritation.

So, 68, if I’m counting correctly.

The Gillen/McKelvie Young Avengers one at the very end is annoyingly labelled as an Omnibus, even though it contains less issues than several of the OHCs which are not labelled as Omnis.

Otherwise it would be 69….nice.

These two shelves hold all my OHCs. There are others that are the exact same format, but are called something else (the Powers ones that you can see the start of, on the right, for example), but these are all my Marvel OHCs.

I love the Evil Dead franchise, but for me it’s A Simple Plan, Raimi channelling his early collaborators, The Coens, to superb effect.

And a shout out to The Gift too, an excellent ensemble cast ghost story with a genuinely terrifying turn from Mr Quantum Baby himself.

A top shelf double bill.

The only thing worse than comic filing day is movie filing day.

Just spent the last couple of hours filing the last 12 months worth of DVD, Blu Ray and 4K purchases into the collection.

Photos before and after.

Not easy to tell when so zoomed out, but the difference is HUGE.

#FourComics that made me fall in love with comics.

Like everyone else that has posted this, there are dozens, arguably hundreds, that could legitimately qualify for this…but these 4 were some of my earliest and are *deeply* imprinted in my comics DNA.

I love this arc. LOVE it. But you never really see anyone talk about it (or perhaps I just move in the wrong circles). Hardly surprising, since it came immediately post-Hush, so maybe it kinda got lost in the hype for that? That’s always been my assumption anyway.

T2 had two advertised cuts of the film on the disc, theatrical and special, but if you went to the scene selection menu and navigated to highlight Arnies eye and then input the (US) date skynet came online 8/29/97, it unlocked a third cut of the film with even more footage.

A big Thank You to Matt @theunrealitystore.bsky.social for the surprise delivery!

I haven’t ordered any back issues from anywhere for well over 6 months, so when a comic-shaped package dropped through my mail slot just now, I was very confused.

What a pleasant and generous surprise.

Thank you!

The numbers themselves are not a surprise (and are also inaccurate, as there were 7 films not on LB to log), but the Most Watched Actor and Director are.
