Legacy media is failing democracy. Rather than just complain, I did something about. Six years ago I started Democracy Docket from scratch. Now it has more than 400,000 subscribers. But to help protect democracy, it needs to grow and scale. Subscribing now. bit.ly/4qmEiFz

I can't say that I'll be boycotting Chili's as it has been years since I've been in one, and you can't really boycott a restaurant you already don't go to. That said, I'll be happy not to change my habits, transphobia leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Here's the cover of Bedfellow by yours truly. The cover is black with a black and white illustration of a bald creature with his face in shadow and tiny white eyes. He's playing with little figures beside a two story doll house.

Hey Bluesky peeps, could you help spread the word?

Right now my horror novel BEDFELLOW is on sale for $1.99 on Kindle and Bookshop. I have no idea how long the sale will last.

Seriously? No dark endings? Not that you would have (nobody does), but don't read anything by me. I'm a horror/sci-fi writer. Bad stuff happens.

Grammarly Is Offering ‘Expert’ AI Reviews From Your Favorite Authors—Dead or Alive The tool, offered by the recently-rebranded company Superhuman, gives feedback based on the work of famous dead and living writers—without their permission.

“Instead of producing what looks like a generic critique from a nameless LLM,” Wired reported last week, Expert Review “lists a number of real academics and authors available to weigh in on your text. To be clear: Those people have nothing to do with this process.”🤬

‘Titanic’ statue of Trump and Epstein on the Mall draws praise, scorn The statue, depicting them embracing on a copy of the Titanic bow, is the third placed on the Mall by the artists depicting a connection between Trump and Epstein.

There's a new Trump-Epstein statue on the National Mall.

It's an enormous statue, spray-painted gold, of Trump embracing Epstein in a reenactment of that famous scene from "Titanic."

Pete Hegseth Blew Billions on Fruit Basket Stands, Chairs, and Crab The Defense Department went on a $93 billion spending spree in 2025.

Some of the frivolous September purchases made under Secretary Pete Hegseth’s stewardship include a $98,329 Steinway & Sons grand piano for the Air Force chief of staff’s home, $5.3 million for Apple devices such as the new iPad, and an astronomical amount of …

‘Hey’ came before ‘hi,’ and ‘hi' came before ‘hello.’

‘Hi’ is most likely a variant of ‘hey.’

‘Hello’ is not related to either.

Goodbye.

23 year old Ruben Ray Martinez’s last words? “I’m sorry sir”.

ICE shot him 3 times and killed him.

Renee Good’s last words? “It’s ok I’m not mad”.

Alex Pretti’s last words? “Are you ok?”

These are the people DHS calls domestic terrorists. Threats. Aggressors.

Abolish ICE

Avoid being predictable as within story when a reader can move ahead of your prose, they may resent this. Boredom or lack of creativity are reading downers. The reader wants to feel like there are hidden tricks to suss out in the story. Give them more meat.

Hegseth needs to stand trial after this as a war criminal. Between this attack and the girls' school, there's no ambiguity. He is responsible for mass murder and must be held accountable.

Review: A Woman's Guide to True Crime, by Mary Thorson Violence is interesting, but violent people usually aren’t.

Incredibly kind review from Cold Caller Magazine.
“Thorson provides us sixteen different windows onto something beyond the violent and even the violence. Through these fictionalized stories of crime, Thorson gives us a glimpse of the truth.”
