I was considering dumping #practicalwireless because it recently hasn't been doing it for me. I've been buying it since 1974 and it has gradually gone downhill. Great stuff Steve. I'm definitely going to have a browse. I've never been a massive fan of dedicated apps to be brutally honest, a responsive Web app is much easier to implement and maintain(and cheaper) 😄

😅 I like the idea of online Radcom... (although I still prefer a hardcopy through the post). It will be interesting to browse back over reviews and articles from days gone past.

Pure nostalgia. I used to gaze at those radios in the 70s in the days when everything was in locked glass fronted cabinets watched over by aloof old blokes who didn't make eye contact with you because they knew I couldn't possibly afford to buy anything in their radio shop.

An unnamed member of my radio club made the absolutely fatal mistake of taking his XYL with him when he visited our local emporium to buy a new HF radio... Even more fatal when they visited our QTH recently and blew tne cover on my ahemm, '£250' cough, ic7300. 😬

It crossed my mind... I'm uncertain whether or not I would have been able to smuggle them into my QTH with the XYL manning her customs position. The only way is to keep stuff in the boot of the car and then smuggle into the garage under cover of darkness 👌

A quick trip up to the emporium this morning to pick up some antenna wire. Absolutely crazy in there today! @icom-uk.bsky.social #ic7760 Had a quick look at the new Icom flagship, very nice indeed. The base unit is huge.
