Watching videos of me as a kid makes me realize why I struggle with Gene Belcher. Same energy, and I feel the same way seeing myself. It was a lot dealing with me.
The Traitors banquet but it’s DC
Well that makes it a sad day for one person. Literally one.
I interviewed over half a dozen ICE and Border Patrol agents about Alex Pretti's death and every single one of them blame the Border Patrol agent

1,173 people were shot dead by "law enforcement" in the USA last year.
In the UK, it was 2.
The US population is 6x that of the UK, so go ahead and multiply the second figure by 6.
Then explain to me why this massively disproportionate rate of killing is so.
Here's a regular white guy (literally "Chad") not a protester. because, "It seemed pointless, or just a way for people to expiate their sense of guilt." Chad witnessed something shattering. And, that all changed in a moment.
Excellent article!
let the dam in your heart shatter, and the pain that floods forth compel you to action
Literally in tears. Amazing.
Amazing statement from the chaplain of the MN Timberwolves, I’m guessing in response to the craven press release co-signed by so many local CEOs today (inc the Timberwolves!) calling for the “deescalation of tensions” here but refusing to assign any specific blame or even *mention* ICE / CBP
hey everybody lifelong tech expert here
> "system crash” deleted nearly two weeks of surveillance footage from inside the facility
that's not how anything works they're lying and destroying evidence hope that helps
Disaster recovery is like... a 101 course. There's a full section on it for the CompTIA A+ cert. If it's somehow true, then who the fuck did they hire?
I'm only in my 2nd year of a bachelors for Cybersecurity. Even I know it's horseshit to say that a "system crash" would delete surveilance footage. They'd have backups of backups of backups. It's a crime. Plain and simple.
The scariest part for me Hank is that I was going to ask you the same thing. My therapist says "we can only teach empathy with consent". I don't know how to get somebody to want to be empathetic, and that scares me.
Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now
Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.
White. Hot. Rage.
ICE isn't the SS. They're the SA. They're thugs on the street while Trump actually consolidates a true Gestapo. A true secret police. And because they've been so loyal to the playbook so far, expect a Night of Long Knives before midterms. Be warned. Be safe. And FUCK ICE.
But Hitler made the problem. He caused it. He made the agency the group of brutal thugs they were. It was his appointments that made them who they were. The cruelty was the point. Fear, manipulation, and then a savior to come in and fix the problem he had himself created, while everyone forgot.
It worked. Hitler consolidated his power. This is often seen as one of the watershed moments for the Nazis. Much of the citizenry of Germany just chose to believe Goebbels' propaganda. Hitler had saved the nation. The bad leaders of the SA were gone, and Germany was safe.
These thugs were killed to "cauterise down to the raw flesh the ulcers of this poisoning of the wells in our domestic life." His cabinet retractively appointed a measure to approve of the extrajudicial killings.
According to Goebbels, Hitler had barely prevented Röhm from overthrowing the government. Hitler gave a speech about the events on July 13th, nationally broadcast, to state that he was responsible, and that it had to be done for the sake of the German people.
Hitler claimed these "diseased elements" needed to be annihilated. But Hitler wasn't angry at their actions. He was angry at their lack of success in achieving his goals. But they were labeled traitors and killed. Goring began a coverup, while Goebbels took hold of the narative in the media.
Leaders of the SA, but also critics of the Nazi regime, whose bodies were swept into the pile of SA adjacency, were rounded up. Goebbels utilized the propaganda machine to say that these killings were a crackdown on "moral turpitude". They claimed the SA had seditious plans for the future.
With waning public support, we find ourselves at the Night of Long Knives (Nacht der langen Messer in German). Between June 30th and July 2nd of 1934, Hitler ordered the extrajudicial killings of at least 85 people, but it is specuated that their could have been 1000 people killed.
It is also speculated that some of the issues they had with Röhm could have been tied to his homosexuality. It was certainly an angle used to in the public view later. That's not certain, but it's led discourse about Hitler possibly being a homosexual. But that's neither here nor there.
When they got a bit too big for their britches, and German opinion of them dwindled, they also found opposition from the actual military of the Nazis. Generals were concerned for Röhm's independence and tactics.
The SA was a paramilitary arm of the Nazis run by a man named Ernst Röhm. They were the original brownshirts, and they worked in conjunction with the SS, the SD, and the Gestapo. They were thugs, and the stormed the streets beating up anyone who didn't like the Nazi party.
I've been trying to parse a way to write about this. I thought briefly about making a video about it. But the shooting today has me needing to say this quickly, and I just need to get it out of my head.
ICE is not the SS. ICE is the SA. Let me tell you about "The Night of Long Knives"
