I pre-ordered Adele Bertei's "No New York: A Memoir of No Wave and the Women Who Shaped the Scene" from Thriftbooks. It finally comes out at the end of this month.

THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!
08.03.2026 00:29 โ ๐ 5748 ๐ 3347 ๐ฌ 274 ๐ 226My friends are going to go see "The Bride" today. I had been intending to go with them, eat a small THC gummy cube, let the visuals wash over me, but then I decided not to go. Call me a philistine, but I have no use for that kind of story. I don't give a fuck about Frankenstein, vampires, etc.

Another fragment wandering through my idle mind:
"Attack the black because I know they lack exact the cold facts. And still they try to Xerox."
Woke up with the theme song from "What's Happening!!" in my head, so that's a pretty good start.

Commodore Theo played a song off that Nona Hendryx & Gary Lucas "The World of Captain Beefheart" album tonight on @xrayfm.bsky.social .
So now I'm streaming that. Really great.
Went to see the Oscar-nom'd short documentaries at the Living Room Theaters. That was mostly grim business. So much child death.
The first one shown was more of an art film than a documentary, though, and quite beautiful. Not at all grim.
All of the films were good.
For the prime rib at the dinner theatre alone!

For International Women's Day, link to a profile of one of the best professors I ever had.
IWD isn't about me, of course, but Maxine Van de Wetering certainly changed the way I see and think about everything. She did so for many others as well.

What specific asset classes are you referring to?
Not that I doubt that everything is overvalued, but 19 of 20 asset classes are trading above their long-term trend?
What are the 20 asset classes you refer to? How are they defined?
I am just trying to make sense of this post.
Thank you.

Bought this CD in 2003 after reading that it had a mashup of "No Fun" by the Stooges w/ "Push It" by Salt-N-Pepa. Have played the CD more than most others I own but hadn't known of this video treatment until today.
(Don't be put off by the ELP intro; rejoice in it.)
