Senator Alex Padilla is a good man and principled public servant.

MSNBC with a great speed debunk of DHSs justifications for tackling and handcuffing Sen. Padilla.

Padilla is the top Dem on the Senate Judiciary immigration subcommittee -- there's no way Noem (who meets regularly with senators on this topic) didn't know who he is.

Fortunately Padilla is not currently detained.

What happened to Senator Padilla in California today is outrageous. Senator Padilla is a respected leader of great dignity and he has every right to ask a question of Secretary Noem without being slammed down and handcuffed.

Don't let them lie to you about Senator Padilla. DHS is claiming the agents DID NOT KNOW he was a senator. He CLEARLY says (BEFORE he is tackled and cuffed) "I am Senator Alex Padilla and I have a question for the secretary."

Sen. Padilla pushed to ground, handcuffed for demanding DHS not lie Forcibly removing a sitting US senator, as they opposed the president's immigration policy, is a part of a broader slide.

A DHS spokesperson defended the detainment, accusing Sen. Padilla of failing to properly identify himself during Sec. Kristi Noem's press conference.

But multiple videos show Padilla clearly identifying himself as a senator.
