12.07.2025 10:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Should a Linux hostname include the FQDN? That's a rabbit hole I didn't expect to jump down today and it seems that RedHat and Debian have different approaches. #linux
25.06.2025 11:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fair enough if it's in the original. Great job though, so impressive.
12.06.2025 08:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs amazing what the extra 16K of sideways RAM is facilitating.
Of course, the next task should be to sort the alignment of the docking computer text⦠:-)
A few hours into Readwise Reader and I'm liking it as a read-it-later app. Not explored the RSS capability yet as currently using Feedly. #secondbrain #productivity
31.05.2025 16:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Pocket library exported and successfully imported into Readwise Reader. Now to do a sample check that everything has come across. So far, so good. #productivity #secondbrain
31.05.2025 11:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sad that Pocket is closing down. Have been a paid subscriber for over five years. Will probably move to Readwise Reader.
31.05.2025 10:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Love it! Amazing to see the improvements. A 48K Electron is so easy to achieve these days. Itβs a no-brainer upgrade and should be standard for a 2025 Electron! Hope weβll see other software upgraded in a similar wayβ¦
27.05.2025 18:43 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just finished watching Star Wars: The Acolyte. I enjoyed it.
20.05.2025 19:52 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks. Totally relate to the busyness of life getting in the way! When it is done, your work will be appreciated! :-)
05.05.2025 21:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0@breakintoprogram.co.uk Hi. Just wondering, are you still working on BBC BASIC V for the Agon Light? I've been programming the Agon over the weekend and would have benefited from some of the additional features of BASIC V... :-)
05.05.2025 10:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I donβt think I would want to own one, but itβs definitely interesting and better that I thought it would be. Some nice 3D depth in the titles.

05.04.2025 21:07 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was my first machine too. We later upgraded to a BBC Master when the Electron died, but I corrected that problem at the end of last year when I bought another Electron with Plus 1 expansion and an SD card cartridge with 16K of Sideways RAM. Love it.
12.03.2025 20:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Those are good suggestions! Looking forward to seeing them in Evernote.
10.03.2025 17:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've not used one (although there is one on display at The Cave) but it does seem like a nice Spectrum 2.0 with some decent improvements over the base Speccy.
06.03.2025 21:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Valid point. The two machines would have still had a different focus with the Electron being seen as the more serious machine (with the potential for some good games) vs the Spectrum which would still probably be the gamer's choice.
06.03.2025 09:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Had it gone to plan, the Electron would probably have competed strongly against the Spectrum: Much better keyboard, high resolution graphics for serious work, low resolution graphics with colours (but no clash) and BBC BASIC.
05.03.2025 17:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I tried doing that a couple of years ago. I had forgotten how to do the maths!
28.02.2025 21:53 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I loved that game and it was probably one of the main things that got me into computers in the first place!

28.02.2025 20:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's clear from today that the current US administration is hostile towards Europe and the West. Hopefully this will continue to fuel the drive towards closer alignment between the UK and EU, European co-operation in defence, energy and technology developments.
28.02.2025 20:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Much respect to President Zelensky for enduring the appalling behaviour of that dimwitted malignant narcissist and his overconfident puppy today. They're bullies and no friend of Ukraine.
28.02.2025 18:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0...but both pale to RISC OS on the Archimedes, which just feels so much more professional and polished. I know the Archie was more expensive, but it also feels like a more premium product.
25.02.2025 22:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've recently been playing with both on my MiSTer and the Amiga obviously wins for graphics and sound. The Atari ST seems to me as a better PC than the PC at the time (68000, flat memory model, high res mono for serious work but also good colour mode for games, plus GEM as a desktop built in)....
25.02.2025 21:58 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Bottom row for me: 3DO, SNES and Amiga 1200 would keep me plenty occupied.
23.02.2025 19:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0MiSTer successes this week: Set up the Archimedes, Atari ST and Amiga cores, all booting from hard disks. Bit of a learning curve but lots of fun doing it. #MiSTer #retrocomputing
22.02.2025 10:42 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Definitely no distractions there...
28.01.2025 16:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I will keep the Dreamcast, gift the 3DO (to me) and delete the SNES (from this list and add it to my collection).
