I think about it in terms of who decides to pursue the positions that give one wealth and power. What personal attributes lead one to pursue money & power at the expense of family/friendship/balance? What attributes lead others to look for positions involving service to others and personal growth?

Who gets to be super-wealthy in the 21st century US? Those who are willing, even eager, to make moral compromises and/or trample on others on the way up. It’s a selection problem, we select for elites who are self-focused, venal, and amoral. It’s been clear before but blindingly obvious now.

For too long we have stared at the murderers in the streets and not those in the boardrooms (e.g. Purdue Pharma). These guys profit from human weakness and suffering. Hell is too good for them.

Having both Curtis Sliwa and Eric Adams in the same race for much of the year was almost incomprehensible. I could listen to those two guys debate each other for hours.
