Friends with kids, how did your idea for your family change after your first baby?
We originally wanted two but after a disabled pregnancy and emergency C-section, I’m pretty hesitant. I would also prefer to have a bigger gap in between but my age makes that tricky.
Ooph, I feel this. My husband is amazing but being the one with the milk production makes me being the default parent automatic, especially for the unpleasant bits like naps and night wakeups. I’m hoping this improves as she gets a bit more independent in the next year.
Wow! Several times we‘ve waited for a bus and it hasn’t shown up.. Last week my husband watched the bus on the map and saw the guy take a shortcut. He reported it to Istanbul and the driver was fined the cost of 200 bus tickets. Kind of amazing to see repercussions in such a massive city.
My baby is turning 1 next week and I’m turning 37! Taking the week off work to spend time with my mom who is visiting and to reflect on my first year of being a mom!

Today is our two year anniversary of moving from Berlin to Istanbul! I have stalled out learning Turkish BUT I am getting so many compliments on my Turkish accent! Apparently two years of total immersion has some benefits even without actively learning ☺️
We submitted my husbands green card application today! Not because either of us want to live in the US but because I miss having a career that I‘m proud of. Any guesses for processing time? I’m thinking he’ll be authorized in Jan 2028, he thinks Sept 2027.

Told my husband we were meeting my friend but we were really meeting HIS friend. When we got to his friend’s street he called him to say “Jen’s friend lives on your street!” 😆 I am very pleased when I manage to pull off a lil prank.
Mine was in Göttingen and they were shooting them at an ambulance! never excepted that when I moved to Germany.
I saw some idiots accidentally shoot a firework into someone’s apartment last year, broke their window and all. They didn’t even wait around to make sure it didn’t catch fire. Really unimpressed with it all since then.
All three of us have managed to come down with something different (cold, roseola, stomach virus) during our first family vacation. Honestly kind of impressed.

Made the mistake of going to the US for Christmas last year and realized holidays with my family are not a good use of time off. This year we’re spending two weeks in Spain and Portugal and it’s lovely so far! Madrid > San Sebastián > Bilbao and then we’ll head to Porto 🥰
