While yes, you should block any accounts you don’t want to see similar content to, that’s why they’re popping up in the first place.

I say this as someone who doesn’t mind getting NSFW content in my feed, too. But I’ve heard so many NSFW artists and content creators complain about this. It won’t fix everything, but it’ll certainly help

Bluesky needs to implement private accounts ASAP. right now it’s a lose-lose situation. People who want to post NSFW can’t set their accounts to private to protect themselves from outsiders, and the people who stumble upon their posts on accident usually don’t want to see that

I once got recommended a post from a gay porn account being like “I’m eating cotton candy grapes right now, to prove I can do other things besides be a horny slut” and I think about this, like, constantly. Peak comedy right there

The main issue rn is that Bluesky currently doesn’t allow private accounts. I’ve seen SOOOOO many people complain about this, it’s really just a lose-lose. The horny people can’t keep themselves protected and people who don’t want to see it are exposed anyways

The issue is that people constantly get pushed out of the spaces that are made FOR them. Tumblr and Twitter used to be the best places to host that kind of content online, but tumblr no longer allows nsfw content and twitter went to shit. So everyone moved here

The genuine answer to this is that Bluesky’s algorithm can’t tell the difference between people talking about actual puppies and kittens, and THOSE kinds of puppies and kittens. So if you interact with ONLY ONE, you’re going to get shown the other.
