If you're living somewhere outside the USA, one thing you can do is pressure your leaders to boycott World Cup and Olympic events here.

Plane and car crash testing is still designed to keep men safe. That puts women in danger A former airline pilot turned safety researcher explains the shocking lack of real-world testing to keep women safe in the air and on our roads.

My latest at @theconversation.com - talking about the male bias that remains in aircraft cabin safety.

Amelia Earhart disappeared almost 90 years ago. Why are so many people still looking for her? The decades-long search for Amelia Earhart, her aircraft, and her navigator Fred Noonan, has been both controversial and costly.

It’s Amelia Earhart finding season again!

Thanks to The Conversation for giving me the opportunity to explore the β€œAmelia cycle” and share my thoughts in this piece.

The CfP for @avculturesconf.bsky.social Print the Legend closes 31 October.

Inspired by the iconic quote, β€œWhen the legend becomes fact, print the legend,” the event will delve into how narratives are crafted, myths are perpetuated, and legends are born in the world of aviation.

Speculation about the cause of Air India crash is rife. An aviation expert explains why it’s a problem As history has shown, publicly speculating about a disaster when there is so little evidence available is more than just unhelpful.

The Middle East is a major flight hub. How do airlines keep passengers safe during conflict? Keeping passengers safe is airlines’ highest priority. But rerouting flights to avoid conflict zones can create disruptions and increase operating costs.

Two articles published in @theconversation.com in a week! The latest is here - airline risk mitigation of the threat the growing military action in the Middle East poses to airline safety.

The NIH is also now in talks with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to broaden agreements governing access to their data, Bhattacharya said. In addition, a new disease registry is being launched to track Americans with autism, which will be integrated into the data.

Between 10 and 20 outside groups of researchers will be given grant funding and access to the records to produce Kennedy's autism studies. Bhattacharya did not give details on how they would be chosen, but said their selection would be "run through normal NIH processes."

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty.
Lt. Col. Rogers, Field Artillery, distinguished himself in action while serving as commanding officer, 1st Battalion, during the defense of a forward fire support base. In the early morning hours, the fire support base was subjected to a concentrated bombardment of heavy mortar, rocket and rocket propelled grenade fire.
Simultaneously the position was struck by a human wave ground assault, led by sappers who breached the defensive barriers with bangalore torpedoes and penetrated the defensive perimeter. Lt. Col. Rogers with complete disregard for his safety moved through the hail of fragments from bursting enemy rounds to the embattled area. He aggressively rallied the dazed artillery crewmen to man their howitzers and he directed their
fire on the assaulting enemy. Although knocked to the ground and wounded (continued on next image)
