I work for hmv & we had a conference at the Custard Factory in Birmingham many years ago. Madness were the surprise band. The 11 year old in me rose right to the surface. I loved them so much then. Suggs was on the train back to New Street after the gig. Was happy to speak to people. Top bloke.

Sorry to hear this Peter, far from me to contradict the usual sound advice of Jason. As a member of These Are End Times we do not recommended listening whilst already sullen. This may lead to further depression. In this instance I recommend Steps or maybe S Club 7.

I remember going out on Xmas Eve in my late 20s & drinking nothing but Vodka & Redbull. Didn’t get a wink of sleep that night finally, gingerly emerged from my pit, after much duress at about 7:30 Xmas day evening. White as a sheet, shivering in the corner!

Exactly that. The issue is it’s then too quiet. A lot of pods have a little chime before the ads start that gives me a chance to hit the skip button. If my tinnitus is going to get worse then I’d like it to be via listening to the music I love too loud! Not an advert for some betting firm.
