I played all of these when they came out, as well as Boston Lockdown. And man, I really, really wish that BD was given more support and marketing than it was. It's a good game, but never got the traction it deserved to turn into a long-term, evolving game.

Exactly. There's plenty to say about consistency, rules, the massive lore lore and novels and everything else and how it compares to other wargames or fictional settings.
But I have never seen another game/setting with as unique a theme and atmosphere as Warhammer. They do that better than anyone.
Honestly, all the art of that edition/era army books are so damn good. Warhammer exists entirely on Vibes, and its best strength is the ability to look at anything and just IMMEDIATELY get a sense of what they're about.
This just screams "Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again."

Sadly you're not wrong. Well, either that or they read that text and about how the Imperium is a brutal, unforgiving regime, and they immediately start rocking a half-chub because they are unironically excited by space fascism.
This is what gets me every time people online say the Imperium are actually the "good guys". Sure, 40k is grimdark and most factions are some degree of terrible. But most are still somewhat competent (except Eldar when written by Thorpe).
But the IoM is laughably evil AND woefully inept.

Ah, yeah I think I saw that too. I'm a fairly active lurker on the Grimdank and 40KLore subreddits, so I see a LOT of the same dumb arguments creep up from time to time. Luckily it tends to get down voted and ridiculed fairly universally.
