And although I openly encourage people to leave X and criticize a lot of people’s reasons for staying, I can also empathize with vulnerable people who are often making a choice to sacrifice something, like an online community or a culture or a connection, or stay and suffer new abuses
This is one of the reasons I would like to see more people leave X. It is genuinely an unsafe environment, particularly for vulnerable minorities and people within stigmatized niches like fandom
Watching fandom communities and women/girls with fandom accounts who have stayed on X has been brutal. Random posts that should have stayed within their communities are algorithmically blasted to alt-right adjacent edgelords being radicalized by Elon Musk to descend on and mock and terrorize
The follow-up needs to be “so obviously that mission was a failure then right?”
Like the constant Trolley Problem chatter feels linked to the over-eagerness of the Yglesiases and Newsoms of the world to find vulnerable people to sacrifice for the greater good. Like it's a way to make HURTING people somehow seem VIRTUOUS.
No thanks!
Increasingly of the opinion that the correct answer to the Trolley Problem is "fuck you, why are you so fixated on finding reasons to justify killing people?"
Found out this guy's about to be made a general, lmao.

Dear Latino & Hispanic voters,
The Republican Party believes that masked federal thugs lawlessly roaming our streets, racially profiling brown & black people, and terrorizing immigrants & citizens is just a “little hiccup.” I thought you should know.

For the Red Sea? The full might of the United States Navy.
For the Strait of Hormuz? The USNS Walter Mondale will be available in 2031. It’s a laundry ship.
This is real life.
My latest post expands on this point:
"The media may not love Donald Trump. But its own fucked-up incentives are creating a world designed for someone like him."
"Ultimately, the problem isn’t simply that these incentives reward someone like Donald Trump. It’s that they’re quietly remaking the entire political landscape in his image. The media may not love Donald Trump. But its own fucked-up incentives are creating a world designed for someone like him."

Jake Tapper having an Israeli who has been repeatedly proven to be a paid-for propagandist on to explain the Iranian perspective and then having a raving lunatic on to rant about Mamdani's wife in back to back programs is really quite something. CNN has a perennial racist on its prime time.

(Guardian) — Iran has spurned two messages from Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, seeking a ceasefire as its leaders sense it is not losing the war and the US president is at the minimum feeling the political pressure.
