A white piece of fabric covered in ice cubes and sprinkled with yellow, blue, green and purple dyes.

There's something about ice dyeing... it never ceases to fascinate me.

I had an amazing few days at a Fibre Arts Retreat in Tacoma taking classes from @charansachar.bsky.social @jillianmoreno.bsky.social and Heavenly Bresser. My heart is full and I'm so inspired!

Two brightly dyed skeins of yarn side by side showing the difference between superwash and non superwash yarn and how different the colour strikes.

Two skeins. Exact same dye process. Only difference. Skein on the left is superwash. Skein on the right is non superwash. Dye strikes faster on superwash bases, which means colours are brighter and speckles don't spread as much.

I've been trying to find this for years... I'd even settle for an extra 3 or 4 hours... if you happen to luck out, let me know!

Thank you Max. I'm not sure I could have made these at 15 and 13 but here we are. In my completely unbiased opinion, they are pretty amazing kids 😂

A knit grey goose with yellow feet sits on a wooden table and has a bright pink knit flamingo floatie around his middle. There is a plant in the background.

Had a lovely visit to meet my new niece yesterday, which meant my girls could gift their new cousin the toys they have been working on for months. I'm pretty proud of them. The goose was knit by my oldest and the flamingo floatie by my youngest. They did so well!

Crochet is also complicated by the fact that the terminology means different things whether you're reading a north American pattern or one from the UK.

A macro photo of some tiny vegetation

A look at a tiny world I found in my backyard. These types of discoveries give me hope when things seem bleak.
