This restaurant is staffed entirely by teens. When their boss was hospitalized, they rallied to save her business Carol Trainor was the bedrock of Wisconsin’s local restaurant Urban Olive & Vine. When she was hospitalized, her employees came together to help save her business.

Maybe the teenagers will be alright??

The problem with making anything creative is that what sounds like a good idea in the rush of Monday morning seems incredibly stupid by Friday afternoon

Agree with @mbenioff.bsky.social here: the biggest challenge for most companies isn't the technology itself; it's that they're trying to manage 2025 complexity with 1985 org structuresβ€”and change management playbooks from a pre-internet era

Netflix Is Running Out of Worlds to Conquer With a market value now exceeding $500 billion, the streaming giant faces pressure to keep growing.

Insanity is an economy based on the need to grow no matter what. This is why the proponents of "degrowth" have an argument

"Why am I here?" Five easy ways to close the "mattering" gap Organizational leaders and HR teams have spent millions on survey tools, new wellness apps, and flashy perks like ping-pong tables in a bid to keep employees engaged. But employee engagement just hit ...

New from me on LinkedIn: what if the dramatic lows in employee engagement are actually about "mattering" in the workplaceβ€”not whether or not someone uses the ping-pong table?

I get that these labels are added to stories for the sake of transparency, but it's a self-serving kind of transparency that allows news orgs to say, "Look, we asked both sides!"

All it does is reinforce ideas of bias, making whatever story being reported come across as less authoritative.

28.04.2025 14:26 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The labels do the reader no good because they signify tribal shorthand instead of educating about policy focus.

Instead of "left-leaning," how hard would it be to say "a think tank that focuses on socioeconomic equality"?

Or instead of "libertarian," a "policy firm focused on free market ideas"?

One bugaboo I have about how the news reports on research firms and think tanks: don't think it's smart to label them with political labels ("left-leaning", "libertarian" etc) that are essentially just social constructions. The shorthand allows the news consumer to immediately dismiss the research.

At every turn they're removing all the safeguards -- *all* of them. Disease, cybersecurity, financial and banking protections, housing, disability, inequity, social security, environmental, alliances with other nations, all of this and everything else. A willful and cruel dismantling of government.

Sex Redefined: The Idea of 2 Sexes Is Overly Simplistic Biologists now think there is a larger spectrum than just binary female and male

My husband has taught human reproduction and development to the Cambridge medics for over three decades. When people start banging on about "only two biological sexes" he starts with "which sex: genetic, hormonal, or gonadal"?

Biological sex is not binary. www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-...

Surprising to me how many investors betting on an emergency interest rate cut from the Fed still seem to not understand how the Fed sees its mandate. Jerome Powell isn't going to bail out the economy just for the sake of it.

Heading into Election Day, 674K people already voted in Wisconsin. That's more than a third of last supreme court race.

So:
1. Dane & Milwaukee counties make up 31.8% of this electorate.

That compares to 28.5% at the equivalent point in November 2024, & 33.4% at equivalent point in April 2023.

This may sound fanciful, but it's actually validated by social scientific research.

One study showed that, when given accurate descriptions of Republican fiscal policies, a significant chunk of voters simply refused to accept that these were their views. It just sounded too extreme.
